Warning to everyone who's thinking of moving to Soudmand's building at 518 Sherbrooke. She is a scam artist. She will refuse to sign a real contract and will tell you that electricity is shared. She asks, illegally, that you pay a month worth of rent that she would return to you at the end. She will not return it, she will accuse you of not taking care of the place and will bill you for all the months of electricity at the end. So, you will lose your illegal deposit. She also has thieves "renting" in the building and sluts who would go down the escalators with high heels at 3:00 am every night. She does not do any background checks whatsoever. BE WARE OF THIS BITCH AND SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE. STAY AWAY!

Her full name is Soudmand Mohamed. Building is in front of Sherbrooke Metro.

Make sure to ask for her signature on a paper that proves you have paid her rent every month. She calls the police routinely when you decide you want to leave telling them you did not pay the last month rent and when they show up, you have no proof that you paid. She's also, somehow, untraceable by the regie de logement. I would leave her building ASAP anyway, the things that go on at the back of the building every night are despicable.

I stayed there from Jul 2010 to Mar 2011 and I also had the same experience. I was renting a studio on the top floor which has kitchen. She charges any amount she wants for electricity. One day she asked for apartment keys to clean it and promised that she will return it before I come back from office. I had to wait almost 1.5 hour outside building before she turn up. Before I moved out she asked some housekeeping agency to take care of the payment collection. That guy was nice enough to give my deposit back however he deducted CAD 50.00 in order to clean the apartment. Atleast I got some money back :)
