A-1 Parts Depot
A-1 Parts Depot First Engine shipped Burnt -- Replaced by One That Was flooded -- One Extreme to the Other! Internet
15th of Jun, 2011 by User664702
Below is the certified letter that I sent to A-1 Parts Depot. This letter came back to me refused. This company is not to be trusted, order at your own risk. I received an engine that was completely burnt out and when I finally got them to ship me a replacement, they sent one that had been in a flood and was completely rusted out and immoveable. Since then I have made numerous attempts to get them to rectify the situation and they have not responded to any of them. I am currently working with my Credit Card Company to dispute the charges. Dear Mario, After several months of dealing with A-1 Parts Depot in regards to my order, I feel that I need to put this in writing to you via certified mail. My numerous emails have gone unanswered, and it takes a very long time to get anyone on the phone over there and when I do, I get various stories that are later denied. On March 7th I ordered a Ford Ranger engine from you. As soon as it arrived, sometime around March 17th, I called to express my mechanic's concerns about the condition that the engine was in. I was told that the engine should be fine and that you had no problem standing behind the 5 year warranty on it. On March 21st my mechanic called you with more issues and you again told him that it would be fine. So he put the engine in the truck. I have video of the result. My mechanic also told me that he got very frustrated with your customer service (unresponsive and confrontational), I have not had those kind of issue (when someone actually answers). I called again on Monday April 11, 2011 to inform you that the engine was bad. I was told that you had another one and you would be shipping that on Tuesday April 12, 2011. I called again on April 20, 2011 to check on the status of the shipment. I was then told that they made no promise to ship the second engine on April 12, 2011, and that the engine was sitting there waiting for your approval. After several minutes of debate, Customer Service agreed to call you while I held. The CSR then came back and told me they would ship the engine in the morning. I had him create the BOL while I was on the phone so that he could give me the tracking number The second engine arrived on May 2, 2011, and I was immediately contacted by my mechanic stating that the engine is completely rusted out and useless. He is sending me pictures, which I will email to you. This whole ordeal has cost me hundreds in labor, and I also have the additional cost of parts that were placed on the bad engine to get it installed. I may be able to return some of the parts, but there are items (oil, gaskets, etc) that cannot be returned. In addition, my son has been without a vehicle for several months. I ask at this time that you send me return instructions to send back both defective engines. I have placed a dispute on my credit card transaction and you should be hearing from MasterCard shortly. To expedite matters, it would be best if you simply refunded the $1009.99 that was charged to my credit card. I also feel that you should reimburse me for the labor and parts expense I have incurred trying to make your defective product work (I can provide cost details on request). You were informed of my concerns before any costs were incurred and it was at your urging that we installed the motor in the first place. Please send the return instructions via email to [email protected] and [email protected] Feel free to contact me at the same email addresses above. I would prefer that all communication be in writing rather than on the phone to have a record of any statements made. I have enclosed the numerous emails that I have sent (which have all gone unanswered). Your website touts A-1 Parts Depot as an Upfront Merchant. You have a 30 day No Hassle return policy and a five-year unlimited mile warranty on your products. I expect that you will do the right thing and make your customer whole.
