A Words Worth
A Words Worth is a scam. Don't let her do your resume! New Egypt, New Jersey
16th of Jun, 2011 by User531090
On March 22, 2011 I contacted Nina Ebert (President - A Words Worth) via email to have her review my resume in regards to hiring her services to create a new resume for me. On March 23rd I actually remembered to attach my resume to the email to Nina Ebert. To make a long story short, on April 2nd she asked me to meet her at her primary residence in Egypt, NJ to go over my resume creation expectations. She made it a point to brag about her professional works by showing me a book she was published in. We spoke for about 1 hour. She seemed to know what she was doing, but when it got close to being there for one hour she hurried the interview along so she could get me out of there. On April 17, 2011 she emailed me the draft of my new resume and cover letter making it a point to put in the subject line (ahead of schedule). We scheduled a time on April 19th to discuss changes that needed to be made. There were so many discrepencies in the resume that we had to talk on the phone to discuss the changes that needed to be done. She was very rude on the phone, almost making it seem like I didn't know what I was talking about. She had made spelling errors, sentence structure errors, and added information in the resume that I had never told her to add.On April 19th at 237 pm I let her know by email that the resume looked good, but the dates needed to be fixed. At no time did I tell her that I fully accepted the resume and no more changes were needed. On April 20th I emailed her about more changes that needed to be made that were very unprofessional (copied/pasted hyperlinks from the internet on the resume). On April 20th we had a heated conversation because she was telling me that she was not going to do anymore editing to the resume. She became so infuriated that she even hung up the phone on me. Leaving me to edit my own resume to fix it.

This is a rebuttal from the business owner of A Word's Worth Resume Writing and Career Coaching Service, Nina Ebert, Certified Professional Resume Writer / Career Coach / Military Reward Partner serving clients since 1989. I have served thousands of clients throughout my 20+ years in business and have never had a single complaint filed against me. My rating with the Better Business Bureau, even though I don't pay the service a fee to accredit me, is A+. In fact, the Better Business Bureau did an intensive investigiation of the matter cited above and found that the person posting the complaint was in the wrong and I was in the right, with the matter being resolved in my favor. I strongly believe that the person who posted the above complain has a personal bias against women in the workplace. The fact that he said I "made a point to brag about her professional works by showing me a book she was published in" is indicative of his personal bias. In an effort to establish my credibility with clients, to make them feel at ease that they have hired a professional resume writer, I show my clients a sample or two from one of the 23 books my resumes and cover letters have been published in -- again, not to brag, but to make my clients feel at ease. I went out of my way to meet with the aforementioned client on April 2 -- which was a Saturday -- and in no way did I rush the interview. I spent about over 2 hours interviewing him. That 's the truth. The client paid me in full and signed a contract before leaving my office. The contract stipulated that the resume and cove letter drafts would be emailed to him on Tuesday, April 19. If the client was not happy with the time I spent interviewing him on Saturday, April 2, he could have easily left the office without paying me any money and without signing a contract that I would write his resume and cover letter. On Thursday, Aril 14, the client called me and harrassed me verbally as to the whereabouts of the resume and cover letter drafts. I explained that, according to the contract, I would have the documents to him by Tuesday, April 19. When he became increasingly irritated and more abusive both over the phone and via email, I agreed to email him ROUGH DRAFTS that would need extra editing both on my part and on his part. Again, I did this in an effort to establish good with the client. I made it very clear that I would implement any and all changes / corrections, as this is my policy. Since 1989, I have worked with my clients until they are completely satisfied with the end products. As a small busines owner -- in fact, I am "chief cook and bottle washer" at A Word's Worth, fully responsible for all the interviewing, writing, career coaching, customer relationship, cash management, etc., I did everything I could to please this client. I have copies of the resume and cover letter I produced for him and would be glad to show them as evidence of the fine job I did for him. Even after he took this matter to the Better Business Buruea, I told this client I would work with him until he was completely satisfied with my work. Instead, he refused my services, demanding a full refund and an apology written on company letterhead. Honestly, I don't even know what I would be apologizing for. The very week before this client came to see me, a woman by the name of Gina from the Better Business Burea contacted me to see if I wanted to become a member of the BBB because I had an unblemised record of professionalism and customer service since starting the business in 1989. I turned down the BBB's request because it is a fee-based agency. I don't feel I have to buy my reputation because I am 110% committed to my clients.
