| Steve Samuel Weaver is a thief, liar and con man. At the time of this posting the Harris County Sherriffs Office has just left my home following my theft/fraud report and I will be contacting an attorney soon to pursue a civil charge. I was advised by the DA yesterday that Steve is currently under investigation by the Harris County District Attorneys Office for consumer fraud in a seperate matter. Steve showed up at my house five weeks ago projecting himself as the Bob Villa of Texas and it's been a nightmare since. We needed painting and to have remodeling in two baths. He claimed to have a crew of eight men and that the job would be completed in approximately two weeks. Foolishly we gave him a substantial amount of money up front. From the outset we were concerned about his abilities. The eight man crew never appeared. Instead we saw a steady stream of very young, ill equipped and untrained men, some if not all with criminal backgrounds. Some smelling of alcohol. This thief has yet to produce any of the building materials that were paid for up front, despite repeated request that he do so. When he does manage to show up to work, which isn't often, he typically stays an average of three to four hours. He will disappear frequently and when questioned why he cannot seem to make it to work or have the courtesy to call, will offer up a host of elaborate excuses. If you tell him to come to work he becomes defensive and carries on as if he has been offended. On three occasions he did stay late only to ask for more money. He did the demo in the master bath first. A cold water pipe had been broken but knowing no better he claimed that my roof or wall was leaking. It took forever to get him to begin the painting, when he finally did it was extremely poor quality work. My wife and I have been painting all the spots he missed and he's OK with it. If it were not for the DIY network my shower would have leaked. After cutting out the original membrane he attempted to use it again. I had to download and print up the proper steps and make him do it to code. In short, it has been a constant battle to get him to do anything other than take money. Two days ago one of his painters left a printed copy of an earlier "Ripoff Report" with his phone number concerning Steve. Upon returning his call I discovered that Steve was refusing to pay him for his services. Steve claimed that his painting was inadequate. This young man actually worked. Steve was painting as well, if you call it that. At the end of our call he assured me that he intended to file a theft of service complaint with the police against Steve. To be frank, this man is a homeowners worst nightmare. He's stolen our money and spent it elsewhere and now cannot or will not fulfill our contract. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this criminal. |
