False repair list

I took my brother's car for safety test at Active Green and Ross at Steeles and Don mills, they very politely took the car apart, the car conveniently failed the test, and they gave me a long list of repairs. I toll the car to my regular mechanic, blamed him, but my mechanic said nothing was wrong, took my car to a different car shop and got the pass the safety test. Moral of the story, STAY AWAY FROM ACTIVE GREEN AND ROSS

In an effort to resolve your complaint our store contacted you to discuss their recommendations and offered to re-inspect the vehicle to confirm the required repairs. You advised that the vehicle had transferred ownership and was not available for re-inspection. We have a detailed inspection and reporting process and our desire is to determine if it was followed or not. We do not condone any false reporting and woudl take action if proven.

I found this similar problem at other Active Green and Ross locations. There was often an optional list of repairs at the end of my invoices, but I just declined them, even after some hard selling. Like rayrayray, I went to another mechanic who said the repairs were unnecessary. It seems like the staff working the customer counter know what they are talking about, but some of the mechanics seem underqualified or undertrained.

Active Green and Ross is not alone though. I have been to other mechanics who do the same thing. Unfortunately it is often a dirty business for a dirty reason... and there is no chance we can eliminate it.
