Alamo Car Rental Damage Report Scam Glen Burnie, Maryland

Alamo Rental Co - BWI reported damage to a vehicle rented on January 25, 2011. When I picked up the vehicle, no inspection was provided or offered. Upon returning the vehicle, after a severe snow storm, extensive inspection took place by Alamo's agent. At this time a 1.5 inch scratch was discovered. I am now being asked to pay for the repair, lost income, etc. totalling $484.82.

I collected the car in San francisco. I was rushed out of the garage but checked on the condition, it was ok. returned it to LAX, it was given a quick look over and I was given the ok and a slip with no damage recorded. six weeks later back in England I got a letter supposing to be from Alamo recovery unit in Dallas Texas stating that I had to explain the damage/loss and supply any police or accident report/ No description of damage was made and the cost was not yet determined. I am not responding to this as I think it is a scam. the letter is not on headed paper and seems bogus.I kept all the paperwork for the rental, and advise anyone renting to do the same. most people would get rid of it and that is why these scammers wait for a few weeks to start the scam.
