Do not answer a call with the following caller ID number: 201 252 5592. This is an abhorrent police charity scam operated by street mobsters I recognized the voice and the script. In 1989, these self-styled Jersey City/Bayonne mobsters pulled the same scam. They were arrested (according to New York's ch 7 Eyewitness News, with footage) and apparently got only a slap on the wrist. Here they are again and to show how stupid they are, it's the same lingo about a bogus statewide police fund. They are also dangerous. When I caught their scam in 1989 they called a Dominos Pizza in my town and, as me, ordered 10 pizzas to my business address which I did not give out. That was just a prank. The same unscrupulous scammer called me at home yesterday and I caught their scam again and I said "send a local policeman over if the charity is legitimate. They did. To arrest me, a team of state, county and local officers. Of course, they left without incident...I don't think a 66 year old paraplegic in a wheelchair with a nurse at hand is a danger to the community, but this shows how vicious these crude con men are. Hopefully when they get busted again (and they will), the judge will be a little less kind to these goons.
