American Express Sweepstakes
American Express Sweepstakes Travel and Leisure Golf Player Club Junk mail ripoff Internet
17th of Aug, 2011 by User933393
Beware American Express customers! My recent credit card statement showed an $89 charge I could not identify. It read "AEPC Member Services" and "T+K Golf Player Clb." The Amex sweepstakes junk mail I usually discard without opening includes an "automatic charge" of $89 for a subscription to Travel and Leisure Magazine if you don't open that mailing and return the sweepstakes entry form indicating that you don't want to subscribe. This is a sneaky trick to fleece Amex customers who don't carefully read their credit card statements. I contacted AEPC Member Services and was told that the $89 charge would be canceled.

I just had the exact same experience. I noticed charges totaling over $300 for 4 'clubs' that i had no awareness of including the Golf Club you referenced. The others were for Food and Wine, Elite Sky travel and T&L magazine. Evidently i had inadvertently NOT checked a box on a mail package stating that i did not want to join. WHAT A HUGE SCAM. They did credit my account but beware!!
