American Intercontinental University
American Intercontinental University AIU Online, AIU AIU Online, OVERPRICED AND UNDEREDUCATED!! BEWARE! Internet, Illinois
14th of May, 2011 by User816792
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN; Please help me with the issue i am about to describe in brief. I am attending an online university called American Intercontinental University aka AIU. I am about to graduate in July of 2011, but have expressed my concerns regarding this school since the first semester. This school has charged me over 23 thousand dollars for an Associates Degree program, disguising itself as an "Accelerated" educational program, and offers a very low quality of education. For instance, the subject matter of each course noremally requires much more invasive instruction, subject matter coverage and standard course testing. NO TESTS are given throughout the programs, what so ever! Each class covers roughly 10% of the subject matter, again no testing whatsoever is involved, increases in credit costs occur and additional charges are demanded. The institution applies for federal grants and loans on behalf of the student without contacting the student such as in my case, and for additional costs of tutions that the Pell grant or FASFA does not cover is charged to the student out of pocket. The credits were expressed that they are transferrable due to the institution being an accreddited university, but on the contrary they are not. I am 23 thousand dollars in debt, and my only option is to continue my bachelors program at AIU. This institution must be investigated thuroughly. In essence, students are paying for a degree, but not recieving the required education for that degree. I would be more than happy to go into detail about the courses and classes and can show you how this so called "University" is practically selling degrees. I would like to file a law suit against AIU, which claims that its campus is located in Illinois, but i currently reside in Las Vegas, Nevada. I am an unemployed father of four young children, have learned almost nothing, but am graduating in 2 months. THIS MUST BE A CONCERN FOR OUR NATIONS EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM! We cannot allow institutions such as this to basically sale degrees. Please respond detailing my options for pursuing a law suit. I am not concerned for my degree, i would much rather have the knowledge. There are similar postings on Ripoff Report and BBB describing the same experiences i am experiencing. (SENT TO THE DEAN OF UNIVERSITY 05/15/2011) From: STUDENT
To: Sandra Saldana (Dean of Students) Dear Sandra, With all due respect, i understand the nature of your business, which is obviously not to educate the people of America, but to make as much money as possible from people who wish to recieve high quality education and using government loans to do so. Again, i am extremely dissapointed in the quality of education, the price of tuition and the process off "stealing" money from hard working parents such as myself. I do not expect any sympathy from you or your establishment, otherwise you would be in another business representing an education institution that offers a high uality education worth the price of the tuition paid. I will be pursining every means possible, not limited to the BBB, FASFA and your's and my governmental state representatives for assistance. At this point i feel a thorough investigation of your institution is required. If my attempts are produce nothing, so be it and may god be with us all. And as a God fearing, unemployed father of four young children, i was sold a lemon, and i belive that in the end the righteous will prevail. Thank you and god bless you. If you wish to contact me regarding any further concerns or responses, please email me for appropriate records. Student ID Sandra P. Saldaa Dean of Students

I am a current student of this school and have received my Associates and am currently working on my Bachelors Degree from AIU. I am due to graduate in August. The school is what you put in to it. "You" have to apply yourself. This means you have to read the material and be a self starter. They teach the material needed you must be able to learn on your own. Have you looked at the cost of degrees? The fact that they offer the convenience of obtaining a degree without you having to go to a sit down school is expensive. I am a mother of three children so I can completely relate to your situation. I think the school is great, just my thoughts!
