American Intercontinental University Stealing Money/Fraud/Scam Atlanta, Georgia
30th of Dec, 2011 by User430170
I am CURRENTLY a student at the AIU Atlanta campus and hope to transfer very soon. I have been going to this school for a year and a half now, which has been the most stressful year and a half of my life! 85% of the staff is very unprofessional and incompetent. Every time I need help with a normal school matter such as financial aid, registering for classes, or any other normal thing a student needs to speak with staff about, I dread speaking with any of the employees. The reason behind this is; every time you speak with an employee, they act like you're bothering them or being a pest. It's like they just want to sit on the clock and get paid to do nothing. They hate to work and they hate to be professional. However, this is only the minor problems I have dealt with. Lets talk about the major problems that me and MOST other students have dealt with from this school. There are a lot of thieves and crooks at this school. I have no idea why it happens so much, but so many students has dealt with cash and financial aid being stolen from them. The problem is so many students are young and don't know how to handle or report the situation. Also, by the time some students realize cash has been stolen from them, it is too late to do anything about it or track it. My first two weeks at the school I had a run-in with an employee trying to rip me off. I rented out some equipment and when I returned it, he said it was missing the back peace that covers up the batteries. He said I was the one that misplaced the peace, but little did he know, I never got a chance to use the equipment. Therefore something seemed to be very odd about the situation. True enough, the battery cover really was missing. However, they gave me the equipment without the battery cover and I believe he did it on purpose. When I tried to explain to him that I didn't misplace the cover, he told me that I was the last one with it, so I would have to pay $30 for it. He also told me not to report the situation to a higher power (management) because they don't want to be bothered with these type of situations. I then researched the price of the battery cover and found that it only cost $6. However I still didn't pay for it. I reported the situation to the president of the school. The president said they supposed to examine the equipment before they rent it out to someone to avoid these situations. Obviously they didn't do their job. Also, no one knew why he tried to make me pay so much. The very next day, the guy at the equipment counter was terminated for attempting to fraud a student (me) out of money. The lady over student housing was also stealing money from students. Me and a few other students notified our lawyers of the situation and while she was under investigation, we found out that she hadn't had a real-estate license since 1992, but this was 2010. Once everything came to be true, she was also fired from her job! MY CURRENT SITUATION - We are now going into the new year (2012), and it is time to register for classes. When I tried to register for classes a few days ago, they had a hold on my account, telling me I couldn't register. When I went to speak with a financial aid rep. She was very rude about it starting off. Then she said she didn't know what was wrong. Therefore I kept telling her to look in the system because I had to register for classes. When she finally did what she was supposed to do from the start, which is looking in the computer system for the problem, she told me that they messed up my financial aid last quarter and didn't charge me for a class. What does this mean? It means they want me to pay an extra $975 to enroll for this quarter. Because this is an extra $975, financial aid does not cover this. Therefore it SUPPOSED to just appear out of MY POCKET. I have reported the situation to my lawyers and they are currently investigating this situation. I will give an update ASAP. Most likely someone will be losing their job for this. I really wouldn't recommend anyone to enroll into American InterContinental University. I'm not sure about all of the other schools though. I just know that the Atlanta campus is involved in some extremely shady business!
