american trucker's legal association atla poor billing/fraudulent credit reporting practices tacoma, Washington

I joined this association I believe in late 2005 under the pre-existing program. I had no problems with ATLA in the beginning. The ticket I submitted to them was handled in an efficient manner and to my best interest. The second ticket submitted was also handled to my best interest, but not as efficently. My wife was constantly having to call the attorney assigned and never was able to speak with them. She left messages for a call back and he never called. She would then call ATLA and they would give her the update on what was happening. I wasn't notified it had been resolved and I needed to pay a lesser fine, my wife found that out on one of her many call-ins for updates. We were just barely able to make arrangements with the court to pay it before a warrant was issued. I continued the membership though until I think sometime early 2008 after my wife had been ill for quite some time with cancer and I lost my job because the company closed its doors unexpectedly. At that time I no longer had use of the membership because I wasn't on the road anymore. My wife sent them the required written notice of cancellation, but we continued to get a monthly statement, on which my wife for a while would write on it "membership cancelled "and return it. The statements continued for several months and eventually stopped. In 2010 during a routine credit history check, I discovered an adverse credit reporting from Crowne One Network Services for an unpaid account. Upon investigation I found out it was for ATLA. More than once we contacted Crowne One to notify them that the amount was for membership dues billed after I sent a cancellation notice. I have also tried to mail and email ATLA to get this off my credit because I did not leave owing them for any services rendered and I had mailed my cancellation notice as agreed in the membership packet. I got NO RESPONSE from ATLA and only once I got a computer print out of payment history from Crowne One Network. It is a crappy way to treat a customer! I have passed out cards to other drivers on their behalf and sung praises at their ability to help with traffic tickets for the trucking community...and what I got in return was a negative credit report. I read the report and employee rebuttal of the man from Michigan and its astounding. Even though he didn't send them notice in writing, they could be the bigger person and just delete the bad credit report and be done with their reputation intact. They could do it with my case...especially since I sincerely tried to abide by the rules and properly notify them. I would still recommend their service today, except I would hate for someone else to get burned the way I have.
