I am someone who read all of the scam reports listed here in ripoff report and have been inspired, so to speak, to write
my own bad experience with this ukranian international "dating site". My report might seem a little long but it is because
I don't want any details to be left out and I think it will pay off in the end if you are serious about dating russian/
or former USSR women and knowing about this specific agency. It all started when I was internet searching for music videos and on one banner I saw there were russian ladies wanting
to marry american or foreign men. I didn't even click the banner at that time but years later I was looking for dating sites and decided to research more on russian women and among all the russian dating sites I decided to give it a shot with anastasiaweb.com given that they said they had strict policies and everything because of all the scams circulating on the internet with russian mail order brides. I started using elenas-models.com, I browsed and browsed women in russia, ukraine and moldovaon that site, and also read all the tips and information about russian women that Elena gives on her site and how not to get scammed, but in the end I got taken away by the bright colors and flashy pictures they had at anastasia's
thingking that perhaps it was a more professional and serious agency given that they had standarized the way women uploaded
their photos, videos and profiles through their agency. And so there I was again, browsing more and more profiles of beautiful women in the Ukraine, which is the country where
most of the profiles come in this site as you may already know. I found a very alluring lady named Olga, white skin,
black hair, hazel eyes from Nikolaev, who I thought was just my type, based on the search engine results. I started writing to her, even though I had already recieved dozens of emails from other beautiful women in my inbox. (I opened a new account about 1 year ago and the same situation, hoards of beautiful ladies flooding my inbox) And so it happened that apparently she liked what I wrote and my profile as well, she replied with a very nice letter saying she'd like to know me, she had a very excited tone and seemed with a very good outlook. So I decided to continue exchanging letters with her. That was exactly in June of 2007 when I started contacting her and then continued for several months.
While I was dating her, there were dozens and dozens of new ladies writing all the time. I read several letters of ladies who were
quite stunning but in the end I only addressed Olga since corresponding to several of these ladies would imply spending
$50 more each month or even more if I got carried away.
At one moment it seemed ridiculous the amount of other beautiful women interested in me, they were mostly model type girls, tall supermodel type of girls and the like. I was living someplace else at the time, and there I didn't have many options for dates so I rationalized it just as a cultural difference between countries.
Olga seemed like a very nice and romantic type of lady. Most of her letters were very emotional, romantic and I started thinking that I could fall in love with a lady like her, that she could be "the one".
I wrote her letters like once or twice a week and decided I was OK just writing to her since things seemed to be going well.
We talked about many things in our letters, I told her almost all about me and my family, work and things I was doing and she used to tell me about her dreams, her family, her activities and many wonderful things. It all seemed as she was sent from heaven for me but the sad truth would soon come into light.
About 6 months later I sent her some roses for a christmas gift and a bottle of champaigne. They sent me a photograph of her holding the gift, so that gave me more trust with the dating agency.
I sent her my home address and email address in the little note they were supposed to give her with the gift and it was for her to send me a post card from Ukraine as we had discussed in a previous letter.
I never recieved the post card despite the fact she told me she had sent it already and giving me the excuse that it might have gotten lost in the mail.
I didn't fully believe that could have happened but I continued exchanging emails with her in Feb 2008 when she told me that she wanted to be my Valentine. I got very excited and wrote her another letter and also bought her another gift through anastasiaweb. And so, I continued my communication with this lady (or an agent at anastasias, who knows?
in the end..) until she had her birthday, and I decided to call her with the interpreter at Anastasias as her birthday gift and also to be able to try it out without a mediator. The translation service price seemed a bit high yet I thought she was worth spending this money and more so it was her birthday.
I spent around 5 minutes waiting after they said that she was going to answer the phone and that they were connecting the call, so I finally hung up and called again around 5 minutes later, another agent , said that there was no problem, that they would
try to contact her again. Again nothing happened and the agent came back telling me that it wasn't possible to contact her because apparently she wasn't available >for some lameass excuse.
It seemed ridiculous that she didn't have a cell phone they could call in case they couldn't contact her house/apt.
So what I did then was to write her another email congratulating her for her birthday but I wasn't very motivated after what happened. Something seemed really fishy and the thing was that I had also been investigating more about dating scams through the
Internet. I had recently found a site called jimslist.com which depicted many cases of scams and had reviews on many popular russian dating sites which were mostly schemes to get men in an endless loop of writing letters and spending credits on their sites. I got really mad and started suspecting that I might be another victim of one of these unscrupulous dating schemes too. So after
I wasn't able to reach her on the phone I was almost sure that something was up.
I recieved another letter from the girl as a reply to my birthday letter, in it was an excuse for not being there when I called
apparently because she had gone on a trip in a city nearby with her friends so I thought that it could be a fair excuse and thought
that I might try to call her again. Next, I called 1 or a couple of days later to congratulate her personally still with a little hope left in me to finally be able
to talk to her. As you might expect, the call never went through, they were never able to contact the girl and so went my hopes of Olga being a real person. I got so discouraged that I wrote a last letter to Olga or Anastasia's agents, in any case, a letter stating that I had discovered the plot against me and that her not answering the phone was a clear sign that there was something fishy going on and some other things of what I thought about the situation. I also told her about the postcard which never arrived and that if she was really who she said she was that she'd contact me through my real email address or send me a letter through the mail, that I wouldn't open a single letter from her or anyone in anastasia anymore. And guess what happened, again, she sent a reply through Anastasia's system which I never opened. I still had a whole bunch of credits ready to be spend with this lady but after all that had happened what I did was call customer service to get my credits refunded. To my surprise they already knew what was going on, most likely they recieved a notification or sth through one of the translators about what I wrote on the last letter, and they asked if I wanted to get a refund for the remaining credits. I said yes and the agent informed me that they would delete my profile as well. It was immediately removed from their system along with all the letters I had exchanged with Olga. The day after I recieved an email with the confirmation from them that my account had been cancelled. It also stated a reason for cancellation or Notes section which said : PERSONA NON-GRATA Which I found to be very offensive and mostly cinical of their part after all the money I had given them, in the end just for false illusions. It is sad to know that this site continues operating unpunished and ripping all these men off, men who fall with their false promises and fake reputation.
I also have a ukranian friend whom I met through a ukranian language learning site and he advised that searching for a wife in one of these sites is like searching for a needle in a hay stack, it's just too difficult to find her. In both ways I believe, given that the agency is fraudulent and won't let you reach your chosen lady until they've exploited you enough(watch movie Derailed with Jennifer Aniston to have an idea of how conartist operate) and in the case that they were real women and really wanted to meet a husband, it would be very difficult to find the right partner for you given the universe of factors involved for a relationship to flourish. Through my own research I also learned that there are websites which reclute all these russian women for them to lure new bachelors to these fraudulent dating sites and by keeping these men entertained with the letters they write they get commissions. I also read an ad in which an agency calls young attractive women to attend a meeting where many
foreign bachelors will go and it has a mock in it which said something like "These stupid americans think we want to marry them..."
It really enfuriates me to know that these people are conducting this "business" in which they decieve people by claiming to be true and claiming to be against scammers and scamming agencies and the way they just throw you away when you are no longer profitable( when you discover their lies). It also enfuriates me having been played in this way by professional con artists.
And even if you got all the money you spent with them back, who is going to compensate you for the time wasted in the woman and also for the feelings you spent with her? In addition, you are left with emotional damage and frustration. You can not even sue or get back to them b/c they are an online organization who would be very difficult to find in the real world and would have to spend a lot of money to be able to find them and get them behind bars. Watch youtube videos with information on the subject of dating russian women which might be really disappointing and
sad for someone who is really interested in marrying a russian lady but which show you stories of people who have been involved in such scams and also show how bankrupt the dating scene might be in russia and the other former ussr countries like Ukraine. I hope this testimony serves of help to anybody who is trying to get a russian wife for them to be very careful and alert.
Note that it is not my intention to disuade you completely from wanting a russian lady but for you to be careful with
fraudulent and inmoral agencies like these which also use fake testimonies , corrupt practices and fake policies in order to profit from you. So my final advice is to get good at dating real women , there are also beautiful women wherever you live and it is not impossible to hook up with one of them if you put in the practice and work. Also look for dating coaches on the Internet, there is excellent advice out there for anyone willing to learn and get good with women and dating.
For me, trying to get married to a woman like the ones in Anastasias with that kind of system is like wanting to make easy money. There is no such thing, you have to put in the work and intelligence to make a living.
