Argosy Nashville - where should I begin? Things started out great. I enjoyed the professors and getting to know my fellow classmates. Keep in mind I still have faith in those people. However, at the point where I was 45 hours into a 60 hour Master's program, things took a turn for the worst. As many of you readers may know, student loans are available to students to allow us to pay for student related costs (i.e. rent, computer, books, and the like). And, this had NEVER been a problem before. Prior to my upcoming classes I accepted the full amount of the loans I was offered...and it went from approx. $6,800 remaining to less than $3,000! You could say that this shocked me. So, I researched what could have happened to cause this great decrease in my student loans. The fact was the FAFSA school year was 2010-2011 (for Fall 2010) and Argosy Nashville's Financial Aid Department decided to give me the small amount remaining in the old 2009-2010 school year! I went to FAFSA Live Help and spoke with TWO employees of the government. I was told that they (Argosy Nashville) were in error. Next, I called Argosy and initially received no answer. Left message. When my call was returned I was told it was because of my new entry date. Well...I suppose they thought I wouldn't double-check this? So...I have many friends that go there...and saw that they had also received the old 2009-2010 school year funds! A few days later, I decided to go in and have a face-to-face talk with those in the FA dept. I asked him to change my FAFSA to the correct and corresponding academic school year and the reply was, "no". Also, it should be noted that the story had changed at this point. Now, instead of the decrease in just MY financial aid funds...an employee there told me that they had computer problems that day and could not access the 2010-2011 FAFSA so they just decided to go ahead and use the old 2009-2010! Haha. Are you kidding me? This place is turning into a complete joke with changing stories. I spoke to another Federal Worker (from FAFSA) that specifically told me if Argosy was having trouble accessing the correct information, that they were to call their office. The FAFSA employee seemed very perplexed why Argosy Nashville's Financial Aid Dept. would even try to do this? So...it gets even more ridiculous. I leave the Nashville's Argosy University because of there practices and decide to go back to the university where I received my undergraduate degree (with no Financial Aid problems...mind you). And, I simply ask for the transcripts. I get an e-mail that I owe an approx $500 of Title IV funds just because I dropped (not withdrew) from a class? Are you kidding me? Hmmm. Never had that problem before at Tech either. I am starting to crack up and laugh at their absurdity at this point. As the e-mail stated that until that $500 was paid they would not send my transcripts to Tech. So what...do they actually think they are going to hold my transcript ransom until I pay that money? Ummm. Think again. Am I taking the appropriate and legal measures to resolve this matter? Yes. Did I complete 45 hours of the 60 Master's program with a 4.0 and consider myself an intelligent student? Yes. Did I go through the "chain of command" so to speak, to allow Argosy's Financial Aid Dept. to attempt to remedy this situation before speaking to higher authorities? Yes. Will I continued to be bullied by this simple university? No. Should you pay this "cash cow" university for the run-around? No. Am I well aware that this review will be Googled by current administration at Argosy University? Yes. Do I care? No. Conclusion: Argosy Nashville has sub-par customer service (and yes, you are a customer, since you are paying) and is at best an average university. Do not be ripped off my these pushy mercenaries. If you want your degree to count for something, my advice is...do not go there. You will be paying for 3 years of Master's classes, instead of the typical 2 years. Please consider the pros/cons before attending any university and decide what is best for your future career and finances. Thank you.
