Scam Towing Charge

Went to Key West for Fantasy Fest. On Saturday, parked in Post Office parking lot after Post Office was closed. Lot was completely full. People all around waiting for the parade which was starting in 5 hours. Asked people if there was a problem parking there. Received several answers that it was not a problem, that they had parked there for 7 years to see the parade. Sent some post cards and went to the bathroom. Came back in less than 1 hour and found that our car had been towed. Tower told people that our car had been parked overnight. Not true! Ours was the only car towed. It had out of state license plate. There were probably at least 50 cars in the lot. Took taxi to place where it had been towed. Asked who had authorized the tow. Man became belligerent and told us it was confidential information.hreatened that he would close the office and we would pay additional costs for keeping car longer. Refused to take our credit card. Fee was $270. Towing fee posted was $135 but he added all kinds of cost to it. What a scam! Don't plan on returning to Key West.
