Ashley Furniture Home store-Grapevine and Plano, TX lack of product knowledge and customer service cost us over $700 and furniture that doesn't work

We have living room furniture that we purchased when we lived in Florida and have had no problems. But a move to Texas made it necessary to purchase a new entertainment center and TV for our home. I went online to see if Ashley Furniture still had our collection so the pieces could match. They did! We immediately purchased our TV which was a 55". Then we went to Ashley Furniture in Grapevine TX to order the TV stand and hutch that stated it would fit a 60" TV. We were told it would be no problem. We decided to wait on the hutch portion and was told that it could be ordered separately at a later time. We picked up our TV stand at their warehouse a couple of weeks later and went directly to the store to order the hutch as we had decided it would look great in the new house. The salesman we worked with, Daniel was off that day and when the sales lady pulled it up, she said that the entire collection was discontinued and had been for a while, meaning it was discontinued at the time we purchased it. There was no indication of this on the website, nor were we informed by the original salesman. Upset, I felt I had a TV stand that wouldn't work now because I needed the hutch. They called and found the set at a Plano, TX location. They refused to sell us just the hutch and said to return the stand and buy it as a set would cost us a 30% restocking fee!!!!! After going back and forth, we finally got a manager who spoke with the corporate store and agreed to sell us the hutch..and at a discounted price. Well, I thought my faith had been renewed. We get this unit home and put it up, and put the TV on it, and the TV completely hides the hutch!!!!. this hutch doesn't even fit a 45" screen much less the 60" they claim it would fit. My TV is way to big for the opening in this unit!! Now what???? At this point, we would have to return the entire unit, plus pay their restocking fee all for mistakes that THEY made and their lack of product knowledge and customer service. They have a no return policy, and I know why. this company would be bankrupt if they had to fix every mistake they made...which is adding up considerably based on the comments I have read about this company. If you are wanting to purchase furniture from these stores, I encourage you to run, don't walk to the nearest competition. These folks do not know their product, are dishonest and will do anything for the commission, and the company does not back up their products. Furniture is an investment and high ticket item. In todays economy, you can't afford to be screwed over and stuck with expensive furniture that does not fit your home or falls apart. Good luck to you if you still do business with them. they will NEVER get my business again, nor will they get friends and family business if I can help it.
