Bank of America Scheduled Payment not Processed on correct date - late fee then added Phoenix, Arizona

My card due date was 11/12. As I do every month, I scheduled my credit card payment ahead online to be taken out the day before it was due (11/11). I tried in to use the card the day after the due date, knowing that the payment was scheduled and would have posted, but it was declined. When I looked at my account online, the payment scheduled for 11/11 was showing as PENDING, and it showed a late fee charged on 11/12. According the the customer service rep (who was quite kind and helpful), they are unable to process payments on holidays or weekends, so my payment will not post until Monday. She assured me that the late fee would be removed at that time, but they should not have been there in the first place. In the mean time, I have the embarrassment of having my credit card declined when I was using it in good faith. It seems to me that if they don't accept or process payment on weekends or holiday, then those days should not be available on the website as days to schedule a payment. And I wonder how it is that they are unable to take payments, but perfectly able to add fees on those days.
