I purchased a horse from Becky Acord of Rocky Ledge Stables or Horse Hill Stables on December 1, 2010 and that is when all the trouble began! Becky lied to me about every aspect of the horse, including but not limited to his "breathing" continually telling me he was "out of shape" also telling me the horse had an up to date coggins test which was located at the horseshow office after attending a horseshow. She also told me orignally that the horse came from Canada, but than later she told the Mass Dept of Animal Health that she purchased the horse from Texas. After getting the horse home it became very apparent that his breathing problem had nothing to do with his fitness, but in fact he was a roarer! She did not answer any of my phone calls regarding the horse nor did she return any of the many messages I left on her voicemail. I even brought the horse back to her farm and spoke with her boyfriend (who contacted her on the phone while we were there) and all she said was for me to leave the farm and that she would be in touch with me, which of caurse she never did! The only reason we did leave is that while we were at her farm, one of her dogs was hit by a car and seriously injured. All of her dogs run loose with no fence or gates, but that is another issue. I than contacted the Mass Dept of Animal Health concerning the fact that she never mailed the coggins test to me after telling me that she would. The Mass Dept of Animal Health had determined that the horse did not have a coggins test after conducting an investigation. I also filed a complaint with the Mass Attorney General's Office for failing to sell horses without coggins tests, which is a law in Mass. She was uncooperative with the Mass Attorney General's Office and never sent me a coggins test on the horse nor did she contact me and try to rectify the problem with the horse by taking him back or by trading me for another horse. This horse in not the horse I thought he was when I purchased him, and Becky has not once tried to stand behind this animal and do the right thing! At this point all any of us can do is get the word out on Becky Acord that she is not to be trusted in any way, shape or form when it comes to horse deals!! I have bought other horses over the years and have dealt with other horses dealers who have been incredibly honest and stand behind the horses that they sell. Becky Acord is deffinately not one of them, and absolutely can not be trusted!! I also think those of us who have been the victim of Becky's shadey horse dealings should contact the website she does most of her advertising on (equine.com) and get her banned from using that site and if she moves on to other sites, get her banned from advertising on them as well. I am also thinking of contact Mt Holyoke College regarding this horse, horseshowing there without a coggins and the result of the Mass Dept of Animal Health's investigation and get her banned from horseshowing there also. I think if enough of the people that Becky has done wrong go after her, than maybe she will be forced to clean up her act or she will have to shut down her business or have to change her business's name for a third time!!
