BenHur
Moving and Storage When I called BenHur for a quote, they ask for all the items in my apartment which needed to be transported and I
made a list and gave it to sales person over the phone and his price was $1500. Several days later when I contacted BenHur to finalize the day of the moving they increase the rate to $1700 because they
said I have a lot of boxes, which I agreed to the new price and they promised to write it on my contract that this price “not to exceed 10% of the total charges” so there will not be any confusion nor change or any extra charges in the price at the time of move. They requested a deposit of $850 credit card charge at that time and $850 cash at the time of delivery. Two days before the move they contacted me and informed me that the day of the delivery has to be change one
day earlier in the early morning , because they do not have anybody come on the day we originally planned, due to this change I had to spend more money to get help in order to pack my staff faster, but they did not show up on the planned
date in the morning as promised and after we contacted them on that afternoon because they didn’t show up
they made up excuses and said they will come during evening to pick up the stuff. Finally it was decided for the move to be on the following day and as the workers arrived to my apartment he stated the other gentlemen has given us a wrong price and has listed small amount of boxes and furniture and he has to increase the price and the new price would be $2900 and he was not able to get hold of the original employee whom has given us the primary quote because he works in a different region even though they both work for the same company “BenHur”. I brought up the point that their price has changed so far from $1500 to $1700 to $2900, and they have written in
their contract that the price should not exceed 10% over the finalize price of the $1700 , but he stated that he can not honor that contract… We finally got hold of the manager of the company and he told me the guy that quoted me the price over the phone is on vacation and he had made a mistake and the price was not calculate correctly. We came to a agreement of the price of $2700 because we had no other choice and all of our boxes were packed and had airline tickets for the following day and we were put in very difficult situation. Due to this manner and having no other choice due to time restriction which BenHur had put us through we singed a new contract with the final price of $2700. After the movers placed all of my items on the truck the gentlemen whom gave me the quote for $2700 and wrote the
new contract told me the price has changed because the items were more that what he quoted and the new price will be $3200, and if I do not agree to the price he will empty the truck and will not take the items and added more pricing to the contract despite of me not agreeing with the new price under the original signature which I sign for $2700. Three days later we received a phone call from the manager informing us regarding the new price and If we do not
have the cash at the day of the delivery; they are not going to deliver our items. I stated that the amount which he
is asking is not the price which I signed the contracted and agreed upon and the price has changed from $1500 to $1700 to $2700 and now $3250 which is over double the original price. The day of the delivery there was a new delivery person and requested the money in cash up front. They also charge us $400 extra to deliver the staff to my apartment because the apartment is on the 2nd flour and they had to use an elevator. There is
nothing about an extra charge on the day of the delivery if they have to use the elevator. I had informed them in advance that we live on the 2nd four there was a note on my contract for that. When I got my boxes, we had a lot of my items broken. There are total of 4 boxes missing. As for my baby’s crib,
when they took it apart in Houston, they lost the bolt and screws to it. I also had to pay to get a new set. I called BenHur over 10 times and they did not get back to me. All they told me is that they are going to look for my items. We ended up paying BenHur $850 + 250+ 1850+400= 3350 plus 200 tip Very unhappy about everything Houston to LA 08-05-2011
