Bidsell
misrepresentation and fraud
25th of May, 2011 by sunshine04
I was looking at my E-mail and one of them was or appeared to be from Overstock.com. However, it wasn't. It was a bidding site which I have never heard of. But they infiltrated me with news stories from every major network that talk about the latest thing such as Fox - Morning Show etc. So I registered and Like an@#% I give them my Visa Card - and boxes with merchandise come on the screen (there is nothing regading a fee for joining this service or anything else). So I start tapping away on one of them, and I really didn't know what it was I just wanted to see if I "won" something, and if I did - then that is why they took my criedit card number they would charge me for whatever I bid and won and I would recieve the item. While I was bidding away on (it appeared to be a bunch of electronic gadgets) it looked like I was going to win it and then it stopped and somebody else went by me. Then a big flashing blue things comes on the screen stating that I used up my bids and I how $60.00. First of all, I did not see anywhere that I was buying bids (which in essence makes this gambling in the guise of like say e-bay) which is what I thought it was. I called their customer service number and to my chargrin- the line said it has been disconnected - I wrote to them not once but twice to their webeite email address and I received no answer. I quickly called my credit card company and advised them of this - they called the number as well and did not recieve an answer. They dispatched my call to the the dispute department - where I told them all of this and received a dispute form in the mail which I have sent out. One more thing, the web site is completely different then when I first went on it and this was in a matter of days. I called the number again, and this time someone answered. THey were very snarky and basically said I signed an agreement to purchase bids - but first of all I don't recall given a choice to purchase bids and if I did - wouldn't it clarify how much each bid really cost - They took it upon themselves to give me 60.00 worth of bids - which I was not aware of. And I got nothing. This all took a matter of 3 minutes - the faster 60.00 I have had abscoded from me. I did some research and find that these penny bidders are popping up all over the place and they seem to be from the same company but different names. How could they get away with this? I don't know if you could help me - but I am hoping that my credit card gets my money back. This is indeed a travesty. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Pamela Knoblauch
