I had purchased bit defender antivirus software online for one year's subscription. After expiry they sent several emails for renewal, but i did not renew as I had started using another antivirus program. After about one year of reminders, they just went ahead and debited my credit card account.

I then searched and saw on many forums that people have similar complaints and bitdefender is using unethical business practices. The debit appears on the card as bitdefender - Avangate, and they have made it very difficult for people to stop these debits. The only way out is to ask your credit card company to block the vendor or change your credit card number and give you a new card.

i would like people to avoid this company or avangate for making any purchases giving your credit card number, as they will milk you and harass you till you go crazy or are forced to accept the inconvenience of having your credit card company intervene, which they are initially reluctant to do, untill you can convince them that you are being debited fraudulently for services that you are no longer using.

Whoever reads this please tell your friends about this. If they want to use bit defender, they should buy the software CD from a store, and never online - giving your card number.
