Oh Blackstone Consulting, how you are a roller coaster ride. My experience with Blackstone seems to have followed suit with everyone else posting on Ripoff Report: bring contacted by blackstone VERY quickly after sending a resume via Monster, LinkedIn, or another job site; being very impressed by the office in Carlson Towers, being impressed by the interviews (which are " pitched " to you just as you would selling door to door), and overall feeling good about the position not knowing what it really ends up being. I quit a job that I had in another region because I had an opportunity with Blackstone, as well as for personal reasons, soon to find that the comfort zone I thought I had with my new situation (moving, social life, job) wasn't as complete as I'd found it. After acceptance, you are told you spend a week in house training, to which I felt less and less okay about the job through the time spent in the office. The more that training was reviewed I felt like I was learning to trick people, and this especially peeved me as I learned outright that I would be going DOOR TO DOOR. THIS WAS NOT WHAT THE PERCEPTION WAS WHEN YOU ARE HIRED. As noted in other posts, Account Manager is a skewered title, it is nothing close to a manager at all, you are a DOOR TO DOOR SALESPERSON. For the most part, unless you feel like pushing bibles in the form of internet and satellite TV subscriptions upon people when they're eating dinner or trying to go about their lives avoid this company, if it's your cup of tea then I'm sorry for you and have at it. There's money to be made sure, but if you have the be "that guy" to do it, your the person people complain about all the time. On the bright side, the people there are really supportive, generally nice, but once again a bit off. If you can imagine the profile and characteristics of someone willing to bother others at home, (pushy, pushes boundaries, instantly will turn their back on you at a hint of skepticism about the job, etc) but if you fit that profile you'll do great out there. Just don't come knocking on my door. I'll have a story to tell you and some choice words to be said.
