I submitted an online application to CR England. Abaout 3 business days later Kristin Goff, a recuiter for C R England called me. We talked about my D.A.C. report and she told me there was no problem with it. She told me since i have no recent driving experience, I would have to go and attend a refresher course at thier school. I told her I had no problem with it. This was on a Monday. I had received no phone call from her during that week saying there was a problem with my D.A.C. report. I rode a bus to Dallas South, TX and that is when the problems began.
I arrived at 5 p.m. on Sunday with about 9 other people. We called the hotel we were sceduled to stay at, Hotel Suites Of America, and they told us the shuttle would be there in about 30 minutes. At 6 p.m. we called again an was told the van had just left. The driver finally showed up at 6:30 p.m. I checked into the hotel and was immediately disappointed. The room was filthy. The carpet looked molded. I was put in a room with an other person that I talked to on the bus. When we checked in we were told that we would be moved to another room. The next morning we went to the school in Cedar Hill via a CR England bus.There was no continental breakfast offered in this dump.
At the school it was run down. THe first day started out with paperwork. The students with no cdl had the same paperwork as the people that was there for a refresher course had.There was a loan application at the end of it. A woman named "Kat" went over the paperwork with everyone. At first she told people with a cdl to put an "x" in the loan application. But a few minutes later she told us to leave it blank and she would take it out of our file. The cdl holders that were in class had to pay a $100 adminastation fee. The non-cdl student only had o pay a $50 fee. There Was no Lunch offered there. D.O.T. physicals and drug screens were done. Some people had to do a urine D.O.T drug screen and a hair sample drug screen.
The instructor "Davd Von Story",told the class there are written tests that we had to take to pass the course. The non cdl students also had tests that had to be taken at the department of public safety. We were all given the same things as homework. The class I was in had 91 people. THe test that we were given were sample tests of the commercial driver lincense test. We did not get out of class until 8 p.m.
People came in and out of the classroom as the day went on. We went back to the hotel and I found my things and my roommates things were taken out and plaed in trash bags in a storage rooms. The manager told us that we had to be moved and we were told this when we checked in. I got my things and went to the other room i was given. There was two other people in this room. A twin bed was set up beside the dresser. The matress was half collapsed and leaned towards the wall.
On Tuesday we went to the school and more of the same crap. About 25 non cdl students were sent home because they did not have certain documents. The instructor stood and preached to us how great C R England was for about an hour. Those of us that held a cdl were informed that we were worse than the students that had no cdl. He said that the non cdl students were easier to train because they do not have any bad driving habits and would learn to drive the way C R England wanted them to drive.We were all given homework to do. The non cdl students had to study because they were told that they were being taken to DPS to go take their test for a cdl permit The class started at 6:30 a.m and ended aroud 6 p.m.
On Wednesday more of the same crap. The students were sent to 2 different DPS offices. The cdl students waited around most of the day and did some written tests. We were given a book about defensive driving. David told us that it was not The "Smith System" because the "Smith System" was old and outdated. I read the book and it was the "Smith System" exactly. David said that C R England came up with it. Later that day some of the students came back and said that they had failed because they did not have enough time to study for the test.
Around 3 p.m. I was told "Kat" wanted to see me. She told me I was disqulified because of my D.A.C. report. I told here that my recruiter told me that it was alright. She informed me that I had to find my own way home. I told her that I had no one to come get me. She told me to go call my recruiter. I had nothing to say to my recruiter. I then told her that I guess I am walking home. I told her I had no money to get home because they had taken all of the money I had. I told her i felt like I got scammed. She told me that the $100 was nonrefundable. The director of the school "Antonio Torres" told her to go ahead and get me a bus ticket home. Kat did not speak english very well because she was from the Chech Republic. Antonio had the nerve to tell me that I should go home and do something local.
I finally got home yesterday and sent an e-mail to my recruiter asking why I was diqualified. I am waiting for a response to see what excuse I get.
Anyone wanting to get a CDL, stay away from C R England. They will take you money and give you an excuse why they can not hire you to drive for them. The program is 15 days long. The instuctor said it was a better program because it was shorter. |
