Coldwell Banker Residential
Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate Charlotte Sears President of Atlanta Region Beware of the Coldwell Banker Home Protection Plan-American Home S
15th of Jun, 2011 by User298821
I signed an exclusive listing contract to sell my home with Coldwell Banker Real Estate in July 2010. It was strongly suggested that I incorporate a Coldwell Banker Home Maintenance Plan into the marketing strategy to sell my home. On August 12, 2010, I signed a contract for my Coldwell Banker Home Protection Plan that would be administered by American Home Shield (a/k/a AHS). On June 01, 2011, I called AHS and thus starts the nightmare. I requested emergency air conditioning service as I noticed my a/c unit was seizing up and knew this could cause water problems. The AHS phone person stated that AHS will only take emergency requests if is a matter of health. I stated it was a matter of health as there could be a problem with mold. The AHS phone rep advised me that I would be contacted shortly by a service technician. I was contacted by a sub standard air conditioning contractor, meaning one who is not affiliated with the Better Business Bureau or one who has complaints with the Better Business Bureau. I called the service company to reiterate the emergency appointment. The person on the phone stated he cannot offer emergency service as he only had one (1) employee. It was over 30 hours before the service technician arrived at my home. During the overnight hours, although the a/c unit was turned off, the water leaked and buckled my new hardwood flooring. Now you know the rest, if you read the minuscule fine print that a person needs a high definition magnifying glass to read, AHS is not responsible for any damage to your home. Now if they had honored the emergency appointment that I was led to believe that I would have, then my hardwood floors would not have been ruined. I attempted to contact Rhonda Piotevent, the local Account Executive for AHS but she refused to contact me even when my Real Estate Broker asked her to do so in writing several times. In fact, Rhonda lied to my Broker by stating she would contact me but never did. I then tried to go up the ladder by speaking with Jeff Hopper, a so called Vice President (what a joke). He was not the least bit interested in helping me as he also passed the buck. I then tried to call the Insurance company on the Contract, you know, the one who holds the surety bond for AHS. The insurance company was Liberty Mutual in E. Carroll, Iowa. So I called and left a voice mail message. My call was returned a while later and someone by the name of Beau Cullum returns my call. She listens to me as I relate what happened and mentioned that I had just spoken to Jeff Hopper, a VP with AHS. Ms. Cullum informs me she has never heard of Mr. Hopper. I then contact the President of the Atlanta Office of Coldwell Banker, Charlotte Sears but Charlotte makes me wait an additional 2 days as she is busy with meetings. Charlotte Sears leaves me a voice mail on my phone informing me she had spoken with Jeff Hopper the VP of AHS and he advised her to give me the telephone numbers for the President of AHS, David Crawford at 866 305 0259 X2101. I call the number and it is answered by Beau Cullum. Please note this is the same Beau Cullum who returned my call from Liberty Mutual. Then I call the cell phone number that I was given for the President of AHS, 901 340 5681, Some man answers the phone and informs me that I have the right number but not the right person. I reiterate the phone number and I am informed that the person on the phone did not work for AHS. Approximately 3 hours later, I receive a call from 901 340 5681 and the caller identifies himself as Jeff Hopper with AHS. Folks, does anyone see Fraud and Collusion here? In an attempt to beat me down to simply make this go away, the Coldwell Banker employee Charlotte Sears and the AHS employee Jeff Hopper decided to have some fun as it appeared at my expense. I have filed complaints with the Georgia Insurance Commissioner's Office as well as the Georgia Real Estate Commission. And I did not stop there as there a reports being filed with the Attorney General's Office in New Jersey as well as the New Jersey Real Estate Commission as this is where Coldwell Banker Corporate is located and I have also filed complaints in Tennessee as this is where the Corporate office for American Home Shield is located. And let's not forget the Federal Trade Commission and various other Consumer
