CVS Received 1/2 of a paid for prescription Knightdale, North Carolina

I paid for a prescription of 60 pills. When I got home and opened the bottle I noticed the number of pills was considerably off. I counted them and came up with 31. I have had this drug prescription filled numerous times at CVS. I went back to the pharmacy to report the discrepancy. I was told we (CVS) always double count controlled substance prescriptions, that is why the number of pills is circled and initialed. After going home, I checked some old bottles of the drug, and found no circled number or initials. When I again complained about of the number of pills being short, I got the same answer: "We always double count controlled substance prescriptions, that is why the number of pills is circled and initialed." The same answer was parroted, and not further information was supplied. I indicated I would file a police report, and the person in charge walked off. I did file a report. After that I was told I should take it up with the pharmacist who was in charged the day of the prescription being filled, and the person who filled the prescription being filled. Had she told me that earlier I would not have involved the police at that time. So now I am waiting to see if the discrepancy will be corrected, or whether I will be charged with filing a false police report! If you fill a prescription for a controlled substance at CVS, have them count the pills in front of you. If this irks them, so what? It will avoid a lot of trouble for you in the future.
