Cynthia Shephard, William Flamount, LouAnn Shaffer, Eden I'm sure there are many others. Black TWH gelding, 8 yrs old, child safe, registered - what

I responded to an ad on Dreamhorse.com for a child safe black TWH gelding for my kids. I talked to Cynthia Shephard (or whatever her name is) many times about the horse. She told me that he was used for therapy for a child who had a traumatic brain injury. The child could no longer use the horse due to her condition and the parents wanted it sold. I was told that he was very well mannered and was raised by a vet who breeds mules and the parents had paid $7500 for him. She promised that he had paperwork in order to get him registered and that was included in the sale price. She had a friend who could transport him for me as she was hauling racehorses my way. She would also pick up another horse that I had to ship as it was on her supposed route. After viewing many videos, I decided that he looked like what we were looking for and bought him. I sent my check right out to William Flamount in Hickory, NC. I was told that the horse "Magic" had Coggins and health certificate in hand and she would ship him the following week. A week came and went and nothing. I called Cynthia and LouAnn several times and finally got a response days later. Again, promised another ship date - problems w/ horse in quarantine in FL that they were shipping. After 2 weeks, I gave up and hired my own shipper. After 3 different attempts to pick up the horse over the course of a week, he was finally picked up in a parking lot in the Hickory, NC area off I 40. She would not give the driver an address and had told me that the horse was in Lake Wylie, SC. I did not know it wasn't until I sent the driver there and found out the horse was not there! When the horse arrived, he was very, very underweight. She promised to send me back $100 since he was in such bad shape b/c a neighbor horse had chased him so much. The horse had black paint on his face?? The horse is obviously not 8. From looking at his teeth he is in his late teens. As the paint has worn off, white hairs are showing in his face and on his back. To this date, I have not received his paperwork, although I had a call last Wed from an Eden who has said she had mailed them Priority and that they would be here Sat. No paperwork and no $100 check. Also, the Coggins test on the horse show a date as being drawn a few days before this horse shipped - I was told that there was one in hand. To the lady who filed this same report before me - don't feel bad, I was scammed too! She talked just like she knew the horse and knew a good bit about Walking horses. I have owned horses all my life and have bought many and this was the first I have encountered! Let's do what we can to help others not fall in to this trap! I have noticed many suspicious ads on dreamhorse and horsetopia. Buyers, please be very careful when looking at a beginner friendly TWH mare or gelding!!
