Dan Gamel's Morgan Hill RV Center Verbal fraud. Telling us there was no sales tax in Nevada if we took delivery there. Morgan Hill, California

My former wife and I purchased an RV from Dan Gamel's Morgan Hill, CA RV Center in July 2002. We were told by the salesman there that Neveda had no sales tax on RV's. If we took delivery in Nevada and left it there for 90 days, we could avoid sales tax in Calif. and Nevada. We thought nothing was amiss and went along with the delivery in Nevada by their salesman. We signed off in Nevada and took the RV to a Reno RV park and left it there for the required 90 days. We returned after that to California where we lived. We sold the RV two years later. Eight years later we were notified by the State of Nevada taxation department that they were assessing me sales tax on the RV. EIGHT YEARS LATER! Apparently Nevada has an 8 year statute to collect on taxes. Unbeliveable. Now, because I am retired and have no income from which to pay this tax, they put a lien on my record. Yes, I realize I probably should have checked this out but I trusted this dealer new what he was doing. He was the largest RV dealer in Morgan Hill. This dealer out and out lied to us and obvoiusly had been doing this to others as I have been told. The dealership is no longer in Morgan Hill and I would like to know if others out there were affected by this type of fraud and what they did about it.
