Direct TV Rebate Redemption Hidden, $20 mo. Cancellation; Poor HD Internet

Be well aware of Direct TV and it's manner of baiting you in with their REBATE OFFER. They claim that the technician will take care of it when he arrives (they no nothing of this). They claim you will get it in the mail and it is in your installation papers. If it is, there is very small print; in fact, you have to really search on line to find it. By the time you realize that you are not receiving it in the mail, which they insist even if you call, it TOO LATE, because they only give you 90 days to 'activate' it, and they are very unforgiving if you miss it. It sounds like they have a script to apologize. They make this angle very hard to get; chances are you'll blow like I did if you relax on their assurances. They want you to miss it, that's why you have to go thru so much in the first place. Another thing to watch out for is their Early Cancellation policy. They want you to commit for 2 years, and the cost is a WHOPPING $20 per month remaining on the contract. That comes to over $450.00 after your first month; so if you move - better take it with you; or if something happens out of your control; you pay anyway! Last but not least; their HD reception is well below the quality of a simple digital antenna. It is really poor, in fact, I get better reception thru "component" as opposed to "HDMI" on my Samsung. Not sure what I am paying for.
