Dish Network impossible to cancel service and being ignored by corporate internet, Internet

On October 12, 2011, I called Dish to cancel our service. Our contract was ending, and my husband and I decided that we would just get an antenna and hook our computer to the TV in order to simplify and save money. We prepaid our bill with our debit card on auto pay each month, so our October bill was already debited from our account at the end of Sept. The customer service rep asked if I wanted to cancel effective that day, but I said that since we had already prepaid October, just let it run its course, and then we would be even. At the end of October, I went to check my bank balance, and to my disbelief, Dish was taking our payment for November. I called immediately, as the charge was just pending and was told that there was nothing they could do until it posts and that since my cancellation was not until October 31st, and our autodraft from our account was on the 29th, that that explained why they charged us. I asked if it was not the responsibility of the rep to tell me that and/or cancel the charge, since I did not want service for November. She said that they should have double checked. I did not have enough money in the account to cover Dish Network's charge, so I received an overdraft fee of $34, and my bank paid Dish. I was given the e-mail address for corporate. I have e-mailed them four times at least, and NO RESPONSE. Also faxed them. I asked for a number to call them but was told there is none, and I would have to wait for them to get back to me, which I am learning will be never. IT GETS BETTER. They did put the charge back in several days later, but not the overdraft fee. In one of my calls to them, which are tallying up, I asked about sending back the equipment. They said I would receive a return kit box with instructions on sending back the equipment, and it is important I do because I would be charged for the equipment if I did not. I called yesterday, November 6th, a week after my October 31st cancellation, and I was told that no box had been sent, but that I had 30 days to return the equipment, and she would put in for me to receive the box. I demanded to know why it had not already been sent when basically they have known I was cancelling since October 12th. She said she didn't know why, but would get it sent. I told her that I did not really have 30 days to return it because Dish has taken a week away from me. Shortly after our conversation, I get an e-mail confirming my cancellation and saying my return kit would be sent and that I need to return it within 10 DAYS! I called Dish tonight and was assured I had 30, and he had no idea why my e-mail said 10 days. He gave me address where he said I could send the equipment explaining I didn't need to wait for the kit. Really? Why has no one told me this before. I am at the end of my nerves here. Do I believe this guy who basically has no idea they send out e-mails saying 10 days when he is telling customers 30 days? Do I wait for the box? Do I cancel my debit card, which my bank suggested might be something to block any unauthorized payments, should I not have the time I am being told I do to get the equipment back to them? I saw one suggestion on here to mail UPS, so shipment could be tracked. But, with corporate completely ignoring me, I am not confident that the law even matters to this company. This feels like thievery to me. We were good customers for two years and had no trouble until we tried to cancel, and now it feels like we are being kicked on our way out. The helplessness is infuriating. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER again will I do business with this company or anyone associated with them. I don't know if they just want to make is so hard to leave that you throw your hands up or hope they will get enough people who just let them take the money and become too tired to fight it. I don't get how they expect to continue to be viewed as a legitimate company. If I was signing up for new service, I am sure I would get a call immediately back, but I will not hold my breath to hear from corporate.
