Drive Time Drive Time Warranty Department Complete bunch of Incompent Morons Dallas, Texas
4th of Oct, 2011 by User766241
I bought a 2005 Ford Taurus from Drive Time on Garland Road in Dallas Texas on Saturday August 27th. The day after purchasing the vehicle, the check engine light had come on. I thought it might be a sensor issue, and decided to wait another day to see if it might turn off. The light stayed on for my ride to and from work that Monday. I immediately called Drive Time Tuesday morning to discuss the issues. I was told to speak with the warranty department and go from there. The warranty department advised me to take it to one of the shops covered under warranty to have it checked out. I set up an appointment at AAMCO on Inwood Road for the next day, Wednesday. It sat there all day with no call back, and was left unlocked in a near by parking lot. I was working, and had planned for my mother to pick up the car and come to get me. When I finally called them that day, they said parts needed to be ordered and they will let me know when they come in. Thing is, the warranty department only gave me until that evening to decide whether or not I would keep the car. I was unsure, and David in the warranty department told me the car was "drivable" and I could pick it up if I wanted and decide what to do. I picked up the unlocked (again) car from a parking lot unattached to the mechanic shop. I drove it into Drive Time and expressed my concern. I was promised then that my car would be fully inspected, bumper to bumper, and any issues it had would be fixed. That Sunday, I went to the grocery store, and my car died while sitting at a stop light. So I took it back to the shop the next day, Monday, when the "parts" came in. They decided it needs a tune-up... The tune-up did not help at all, and the car sat in the shop from Monday morning until Saturday evening. It was too late to return the rental that evening, luckily, because the car died again, twice on the ride home. I was so upset at this point, again another week without my car. I had a friend offer to take it in for me, because after all the phone calling and driving around I was at risk of losing my job. I called as soon as they opened on Monday. I was told the car "needed to get used to a new driver?" But they offered to see it again and my friend brought it in that morning, and again it sat without any communication. I called around 2:30 to check on the status and was told it would be about an hour. My friend picked it up and drove it back to the house. I still had the rental in case it was still a problem. The mechanic had said it will still be a little shaky at first but should get better. So I drove it for a week, with zero improvement. I was called by Drive Time to pick up my license plates, and decided I would speak with them in person about these issues. Again, I was told to contact the warranty department and all this would be taken care of. JP from the warranty department told me I was autorized to take it to a Ford dealership to have a diagnostic done, and then a claim would be filed. So, I did just that, on Saturday, October 1st, a just a month after purchasing a vehilce I have been unable to safely drive. Joe at Park Cities Ford was very helpful and was sure the car had issues. I rented a car, because I was under the impression I would be re-embersed by Drive Time. I left the car there that Saturday, and heard nothing about the car until Tuesday at 4:30 PM. Drive Time warranty decided the issues were not going to be covered and neither was the rental car. I called the warranty department to complain, and was told to re-submit the claim and wait until today, Wednesday. Again, they refused to take the claim and fix the car that was sold to me without being diagnosed. Also, I am now out of pocket $200 for a rental car, because it took them five days to decide not to fix it. They have no intention of ever fixing the car, and have no intention to pay me back for the rental. Why did I go take it in if they weren't going to fix it? Why did they sell it to me? Why won't they pay for the rental when they took so long to decide if it was under warranty or not? I have been crying for an hour and feel totally and completly ripped off by this company and no one in any part of Drive Time seems to care. I have had it.
