I started looking for a place to stay shortly after my divorce because my ex was granted the house in the divorce. I came across a subdivision in merrillville Indiana and the owner of the property just happened to be sitting over there and asked if I were interested. I replied yes and he let mr see the home. After a breif meeting he informed me that I would have to put down $5000 and they would start building. I turned in my deposit and everything seemed to be fine, so after I kept driving by to check on the progress of the home I noticed day after day nothing had been done. So I questioned Earl he told me oh it will be ready way before May and you'll be ready to move in. So as months went by still nothing so he asked me if I would just move in to one that they were working one which was smaller than the one I paid for, being that I was in a bind I said yes he garanteed me that I would still be in the new unit by May 1st. So as of June home still was not finished so he told me he had ran out of money and asked could I wait until July 10. I stated to him I would be out of town and would return by the 19th of June. He said ok I'll have your keys then. So I went over there to assume my keys and to my surprise the home still was nowhere near done floors weren't down there were broken windows, cabinets weren't in etc.. So I asked him ok when do you plan on finishing the home I'm on a deadline and I have to be out of my old home like last week! He than told me you know what I don't think this is going to work I never knew you had five children. I told him what do my children have to do with this? He said hollering I just don't want to deal with you anymore!! I'll give you your money and we'll be done. I was already past my date to be out of my other home so now I was forced to find housing for my children and I in less than a week. I went to get my money from him and he said he didn't have it! Which put me in an even worse perdicament.
