used traction unit for two weeks,last day i used unit i developed vertigo and had to be hospitalized for three days. The hospital.s neurologist told me to stop using the traction unit and return.I would like to know if others are also having problems with EMPI'S saunders cervical traction unit.

Yes. I was having chronic neck problems, but after the therapist directed me to be put in cervical traction, my problem was greatly aggravated. This unit caused much severer symptoms that became debilitating. I lost function of my bicep and rotator cuff region. This led to atrophy (very quickly). Now, months later, I am still working daily to restore all the loss and recover from the damage. The doctor working on my case after this was prescribed by a physical therapist (though I'm sure they covered their behind with one of the group dr's signature) told me my condition should never be treated with traction -- I have stenosis and traction creates tremendous pressure on nerves. Well, now I know. Dealing with EMPI has been a real joy -- not. They are so rude and unhelpful. When asked some uncomfortable questions (as I became suspicious of the racket), they simply hung up. They are quite quick to do this. It has happened three times. The so-called "customer service" agents clearly KNOW their employer is scamming people. I intend to contact the consumer fraud department of the Attorney General in my state. They told me on the phone that the actual cost of the unit is only $167, but they are trying to collect $351 from me after already having been paid by my insurance company. Very strange business. My case seems to be like all the others I've read about online. This company has made a routine of deceptive practices. Maybe I'll consult a lawyer.
