Fathom SEO Tracie Roberts, Thousands of dollars down the drain - contract promises nothing Cleveland, Ohio
25th of Apr, 2011 by User533018
If you want to lose thousands of dollars marketing yourself, this is the way to go. I paid 11k to Fathom SEO upfront and monthly payments of $1800 thereafter in exchange for "SEO" services. They are an oily group. Their contract promises nothing, and of course they give you the standard "any SEO firm who guarantees results is bad news" bit so that they can't be liable. After months worth of lost time and thousands of dollars visitors searching keywords without my name in them grew by about ONLY FIFTY. The VP, Tracie Roberts, thought that was great and even pointed it out during a phone call. They won't give you your money back and will fight to the death, for something that produces no results. Since their contract guarantees no results, they are totally set! I end up giving clients that are unhappy their money back 100% of the time. Thankfully 95% of my clients are happy. I should go into the SEO business - in fact, so should we all. Who are the people that make six figures per year and can do a terrible job or be wrong the majority of the time? SEO people and weather forecasters. Fathom SEO in particular. Above all, stay away from Fathom SEO, and vet any other company thoroughly. They set you up with an account manager who is generic and goes through the motions. The only amusing thing I can take away from this entire exchange and loss of money is that during a presentation one month, when the account manager was sharing his screen with me, I could see a reminder pop up in his Outlook calendar that said "Snack Time." At least we know they are hiring ADULTS with their priorities straight. They are so busy making thousands of dollars from small business owners that they have nothing to do but go to the vending machines and probably gossip about each other. They have everyone sign a yearly contract and also did not seem nonplussed at my issues, so I am assuming they have taken advantage of small businesses successfully in the past. When I got involved in trying to work it out with them internally, they were not amenable. My website ended up with embarrassing errors for over two days. See the attached screenshots. Hope this is helpful.
