Florida Marketing Incorporated Carol Jones Fake Company, Fake Facebook Page Altamonte Springs, Florida

Applied to a job that stated "entry level opportunities" at Florida Marketing Group. Said that training would be paid for, didn't need experience, etc. Here's the link: http://www.careerbuilder.com/JobSeeker/Jobs/JobDetails.aspx?IPath=QHKCV0A&ff=21&APath=2.21.0.0.0&job_did=J5H4YL6052F54S63K86 Called me at nine in the morning and again at 2:30pm wanting to talk to me. Position was for manager, right away I was like yeah right. I just graduated college and could not be a manager without experience. This employer raised a lot of red flags!

So just to be clear, you didn't have an interview? Not sure if you can call it a red flag when the listing specifically states that they are looking for fresh college grads... just my opinion.

I can vouch, I actually had an interview with these guys. You'll have 1 interview that's really quick and they'll say "we want to see you back for a 2nd interview". Once you go back you find that you are "observing" how the job is done. It's actually just a well set up scam to get you to sell their products and try to "work for your manager position"; when they advertised it was an entry level manger position! I repeat, they are not actually showing you how to be a manager! That's just a front to get you in the job and selling their products.

When I told the guy that what he had us "observing" wasn't in the job description he craftily skirted that and started babbling about how you have to "start from somewhere".

Word of caution, if you ever find yourself in this predicament DRIVE YOUR OWN CAR TO WHATEVER VENUE THEY HAVE YOU "OBSERVING". I made the mistake of riding with them to the venue instead of driving. I was pretty much stuck out there with those guys for an hour after I called BS.

I applied for a management/marketing position with Florida Marketing Group via CareerBuilder recently. According to their want add they had managemt and marketing positions available were will training you if you had little experience. As a business student who has a passion for business, I decided to apply. The following day I received a call from this company to set an interview in which I did. While on the phone they explained what they do and that they work closely with some corporate accounts (Sherwin-Williams was mentioned). At the end of the phone conversation the HR recruiter stated that she would email me directions and refered me to their Facebook page to get more information regarding their company.

Before going to my interview I decided to do an extensive search on this company and found a lot of red flags that absolutely disturbed me. Here are the red flags:

Red Flag #1) Facebook page seemed fishy. There were very little response to their postings on their timeline. In edition there was no information or a picture of the leadership of the company. It did have their business address, phone number, and hours of operation.

Red Flag #2) I tried looking for their company website on a strong search engine like Google and had difficulty finding their company website. There was a same name company that had website but their business address was in Lake Mary. The website featured a bunch car audio companies nothing close to Sherwin-Williams at all. The webpage also looked unprofessional as well.

Red Flag #3) I also found out that this company shares the same office suite with a company (BreakThroughConsulting Group) that also tried to contact about a similar position. What this tells me is that they do not have enough office space to have clients meet with you at the office which means that this a door-to-door position. This is opposite of what was told to me. Also BTC Group's website had the same issue with their website appearance (Red Flag# 2).

Red Flag #4) The emails that were being sent to me were on a first name basis or they looked like this (Robert G.).

After noticing these red flags and being woken up from sound sleep with a deep gut feeling to not trust these companies, I decided to decline the interviews immediately. In this present day of the Information Age it imperative to have an strong online presense with a serious professional website appearance. These two companies displayed neither. I highly doubt that serious corporations do business with either company. Also neither company are BBB affiliated.

Suggestions:

***For Job Seekers who do receive an interview, do extensive research regarding company and use plenty of professional common sense.***

*** Any doubt about the company at all, cancel interview immediately***

Also be wary of these companies in addition to the above mentioned. All these companies post aggresively on internet job boards like Craigslist, Careerbuilder, Indeed, EmployFlorida, LinkedIn.

The following companies are:

International PSI, Inc.

Ample Opportunity International, Inc.

EEA Inc.

Maitland City Marketing

BreakThroughConsulting Group (BTC)

Ugh. Just had an interview with these bottom feeders. I was applying for a Manager position with Children International through Florida Marketing.

Here is my step by step experience with these jokers.

1st I walk in to their lobby. I stop and paused for a moment to see around 16 other people all wearing business attire (Red Flag #1).

Then I walk up to the front desk receptionist and she has piles and piles of applications, she hands me a clip board with a one piece sheet application form and tells me to attach my resume when I complete it ( Red Flag #2).

One of the questions in the application form asked if I can drive, had reliable transportation & what the make and model was (Red Flag #3).

While waiting for my name to be called, at least 10 people walked in before I did. None of which came back out. So I realized it was some sort of processing center. Red Flag #4

When I got called to the back, I noticed it was a real crappy looking open area with at least 3 or 4 offices off to the sides. Boxes, supplies etc etc. Looked like storage/work area. They immediately explained that this is one of their lesser nice looking office areas to interview people. Red Flag #5

Two guys and I sitting in this small office. They start their pitch. Explaining who they are and the companies they represent. Explained that they are hiring for Children International. They told me that everyone starts at the same place doing booths at malls and events trying to get people to give them money for children international. They said that the average pay is 600-700 a week. Then over a period of time you get promoted to manager to over see around 20 people.

They told me 2nd interview would be going out on the field with a manager to see the work environment, then you get hired.

This company is a scam, this week they are selling sponsorship's for Children International and next week they'll be selling knives for one of their "other" clients they represent.

They shouldn't be advertising to hire for managers just to get you in there and hire you as a mule to push their gig. I'm a professional sales/marketing person with an impressive resume, so when they asked me what I thought, I told them "look, I've been there and done that, I'm way over qualified to be doing something like this. I came here to interview for a manager position and this is not it". They said ok and asked if the number on my application form is my cell phone and I said "yes". Then he says "ok if things look strong then we'll give you a call". I chucked and said "please don't". Then the meeting was over and I walked out. When I went through the doors I turned around and notice a different company name on the "exit door". Why do that? Because it's a scam to get quality people in process to push their trash.

Think about it. If they are processing 10 people per hour that's about 1, 600 people they are "interviewing" a month. Let's say about half will go for the second appointment to check out the environment for the day. That's 800 people pushing their product/service. Assuming you are out there for 4 hours, that's 3, 200 man hours of free labor that they may not have to pay you for since it was a "discovery day". They probably pay around $300 a week plus bonus (people who sponsor a child). Which some how equates to $700 a week. I can only assume they have extremely high turn over.

This is a good gig for someone who is looking for some sort of income while still looking for another work opportunity. If you a professional and value your reputation and time then run.
