Fred Martin Superstore Too big to care about customer service! Barberton, Ohio |

You would think with today's technology, financing a car over the internet would be a No Brain-er. My husband and I did all the leg work, filled out financial applications via the internet, then had a discussion over the phone about what we wanted and how much we needed our payment to be. All we needed to do is test drive our car of choice to make sure it fit my husband’s large frame. The sales manager we spoke to over the phone said "there is no reason why we could not accommodate you". So we take the 40 minute drive to Fred Martin's. Now, the first order of business at a car dealership should be to show us a car! No, instead we were herded to a desk to go over every aspect of the initial application (that we completed via the internet). Another credit check was done, even though we had a copy of the previous credit check, that day, in hand. Forty five minutes later; "When do we get to look at a car" asked my husband. The saleswoman replied, "In a few minutes." A half hour went by and again my husband asked when will we get to see a car? The woman stood up and said right now. We walked out of the dealership with the saleswoman and across the long parking lot only to be escorted into ANOTHER BUILDING. The"saleswoman" said, we want you to talk to our "special financing" people quickly so you can see the car before it gets dark. Let me tell you about that other building at Fred Martin Superstore... it is like the used car dealership for misfit consumers! It reeked of cigarette smoke and most people there looked like they couldn't afford a pot to p*** in! That doesn’t mean they didn’t deserve quality customer service. All I mean is that they didn’t take the time to show us a car, and THEN talk about financing and possible money down to make up for a less than perfect credit score. Instead, they treat you like you have leprosy! If you don’t come in with a high credit score you get substandard treatment. My husband is an IT manager at a well-known university and could have put a large down payment on the car, if they would have bothered to show it to us or even ask. We sat there for about another half hour and said to h*** with this, and left! All total we were at the dealership for almost two hours and never were treated the way a customer should be treated, with respect. Two hours wasted and never got to look at, much less test drive a car. Fred Martin Superstore is too big to care about quality customer service! We were told while waiting, that they sell 500 to 600 cars a month there. My hope is that any potential buyer reads the complaints about Fred Martin Superstore and takes their business elsewhere! |
