GC Services Ripped off customers trying to pay off delinquent accounts Columbus, Ohio
6th of Mar, 2011 by User690642
This started back in 2005-2006 when i went to school for medical assisting at Stone Academy in Waterbury. Like most students, i couldnt afford the payment for school and took out a loan to be paid after school would be completed. Once i went through the whole year and the school had screwed me on the internship, I was still left with the loan and no good paying job or certificate under my belt. So, i had the payments deferred for the year. Seeing i was living paycheck to paycheck, i had to defer the payements once again and for the next year after that. To my suprise though, i received a letter in the mail at a previous address saying the my account had become delinquent and would require immediate action. I then found out from my estranged mother that she had been telling the company that i had no longer lived at that resident, but of course they decided to repeatedly call her day and night, multiple times a day for quite some time. So i decided to call and get this taken care of immediately so that they wouldnt take further action on this. Once i called, I explained what had happened and they were already treating me as if i was a crook and a liar. They spoke harshly and kept telling me that what i said was a lie and that it was all my fault and that it wasnt there concern. So, then I spoke to a man that took all of my information and then forwarded it to the loan company, which then told the man that it had to be wrong seeing that i wasnt making enough to cover all my expenses and that i must be lying. I then told him that if i was making enough money then i wouldnt be in debt, obviously. So they told me that i qualified for a rehabilitation program with a reduced payment plan of $84 a month. So then i asked for the info to where it needed to be sent and when i would have to pay it by. They told me that i had to pay by the end of the month, which happened to be no more than 5 days away and also that i had to have a checking account to qualify for that also, which i did not have. They said if i did not have the checking account, then i would have to pay $120 a month. I said that would be fine and again asked where it needed to be sent. Then the lady i was speaking with at the time, informed me if that was the case, then it would not only take 3 months to get me into a rehabilitation program and that my wages would still be garnished until that happened. The garnishment would not stop either way until i was enrolled into a rehabilitation program. But even if they garnished my wages, i would still be incurring interest and penalties until i was in a program also. She kept telling me that it was my fault and that i should it was my responsibilty to have had this already paid off and that there wasnt anything that they could do. She even spoke down to me when i told her that i couldnt get a bank account as i didnt have the $25 to put into the account. She didnt believe that and told me it must be that i had overdrawn an account and couldnt get another one. She told me that it wasnt their problem and that i would have to figure this all out before the end of the business day. If that did not happen, then i would be penalized and they would put the paperwork in immediately to have my wages garnished and to have any taxes i was due back taken from me. I then was transferred to a manager after being treated poorly by the other lady who told that i was wasting their time and that she would tell me that same thing that she had already said. This lady was a lot kinder than the rest of them, but basically said the same thing as the last 3 had said. My only choice at that point was to actually apply for a bank account online with a bank that was down south. ( the closest office being in Maryland). I was approved for the checking account, but then had the task of getting a payment down to the bank before they tried to withdraw the money. Having only 5 days and 2 of those being the weekend really only gave me 3 days to get the money down to the bank and actually into my account. I had to wait a day for my paycheck and then actually had to overnight the check ( which costs another $20) and luckily the bank then let cut me a break and didnt charge me an overdraft fee seeing the problems i was having to begin with. After that i breathed a sigh of relief as i had a month to come up with the next payment, or so i thought. I just recieved a letter today ( march 7th, 2011) stating that, my payments are now due on the 10th of every month instead of the last day of the month for some reason and the number and web address they gave me to contact them about this, either have not worked or there was no answer the numerous times that i have actually called. They had also stated to me before that if i missed a payment in the beginning that it would be looked upon as a refusal to pay and cooperate and that they would immediately go after me once that happened.
