Glenn Wilkins Automax
Glenn Wilkins Automax Recruiting - Lindsay Lexus Sales Recruiting Scam for Lexus Dealership, Internet
26th of Jun, 2011 by User790975
Let me set the record straight, and make this a warning to others! I was looking on careerbuilder.com and I found a job opportunity in auto sales with Lexus of Alexandria VA. Glenns office (Jane) with Human resources supposedly representing Lindsay Lexus contacted me via e-mail and scheduled my formal interview. I met Glenn Wilkins at the interview at the Lexus dealership, and was told I was the perfect candidate for the sales position. Glenn mentioned he had interviewed 50 people of the last several days and I was the right fit for this career opportunity. Concluding the interview, he said he wanted to bring me on board and start training immediately the next day. He told me what the base salary guarantee for 60 days was and he would go over the commission pay plan the next day and concluding training I would start work at Lexus. So I rescheduled my daytime job so that I could start training immediately the next day. Glenn stated I would know by the end of the next day if the opportunity was right for me, because I voiced concern and wanted more details presented before committing myself. There was about eight of us in the training room at the Lexus Dealership, Glenn stated he picked us out of 50 applicants and felt that we were the right fit for this dealership. His pitch started to switch and he started talking about the possibilities to make money, and the benefits that their company brought. He did go over the benefits and the incentive based pay plan of Lindsay Lexus.. He was giving the old speech in the car business you can make over 100k a year and it's a profession just like doctors, lawyers, and other professionals that work off commission. He was getting us excited thinking that you know were getting this excellent training to start a job next week! About midway through the class on the 2nd day, he starts talking about cost of this three-day training. He first asks us how much did we pay to go to college if we went to and then asked look where we ended up right here in this room. Then he starts to saying he's a national recruiter only working for the very best dealerships across the nation and he charges $700.00 and change for the training session per candidate, he supported Lindsay by sayingLindsay agreed to pay the most of the training except for the $299.00 which would be our expense and due upon the last day of the sales training & graduation and job placement. Never did he say there was a cost to any of this training during the initial interview. We were are all under belief the dealer is providing this training or we been hired by dealer to do training. Glenn stops at nothing to get these 299 dollars from you. He did not train us on knowledge , only very basic sales motivational philosophy, customer service behavior, and a 5 step sales process to employ on potential car buyers ... He tried to say this is an investment in yourself because you get this certification and they are recognized at every dealership across the United States. Also he tries to ease everyones concern by stating they refund the money back if for some reason your employment with Lindsay terminates in less then 90 days (either your quiting or their firing your etc) . Glen also made the comment this down payment shows a "commitment" and dealerships know if you pay for sales training education they know that your applying yourself. The class starts to ask questions about starting dates for Lexus, and Glenn basically says after completion a drug test and drivers license check, you will be processed. Not one Lexus employee has interviewed us let alone knows who we are; we did not have any papers sign showing what are salaries is going to be nor did we sign any other legal documents. So really we weren't hired we were just basically suckered into this meaningless training session to pay 299 dollars. On the day of graduation, we were scheduled to Meet the General Sales Manager and Sales Manager of Lindsay Lexus. They both arrived appoximately 2 hours late and were not very enamoured with our group. They spend about 10 minutes listening to each one of us state why we would like to work for them. It was a shallow interaction, they had not reviewed our resumes or studied our backgrounds. After they left the meeting, Glenn leaves the conference room and returns in 10 minutes. He call each of us out 1 by 1 telling us the same result ...I was not selected for this "cut", but I would be considered for future hiring! So basically I was paying $299 dollars for a class that's meaningless and I'm not even hired by the company..I'm writing this report to tell you to stay away from AutoMax recruiting ... training is just like getting training at any old retail store. After the fact, I have researched and found his company on Linkedin with that information I found posted reviews and your website. Apparently I'm not alone with haveing a bad experience. I was suckered to pay money, for the intent of working for the Lindsay Lexus dealership. Most dealerships you can just interview with them directly, you start right away, and they train you or let you follow somebody else. Like Glenn, apparently all of their sales trainers were once Auto Sales Professionals they know what to say to draw you in. I'm lucky I did not resign from my current employer for this training and hire scamm. I don't think I'll ever buy or recommend buying a Lexus from a dealer. Dick D Alexandria, Virginia U.S.A.
