Global Warranty Group Unreliable, Slow Service, Unhelpful St James, New York

Global Warranty Group (GWG) provides insurance on Cell Phones for many mobile providers. It will generally be used only by third-party authorized dealers. Corporate stores will not use it and for good reason. When I received my invoice upon purchasing my phone, I queried as to why it read "Insurance Declined" when I had SPECIFICALLY asked for insurance. The reason I was given was that the store was using a different insurance company because it was "cheaper." Two months later, my phone broke and when I went to make a claim, GWG claimed they had no record of me. I spent the following 5 days getting the runaround as the store and the insurance company pointed fingers at each other. After a WEEK, I was finally able to make my claim with this company. Let me explain that with most wireless insurance companies, you pay a deductible up front and a new phone is shipped to you. You must then return the broken/defective equipment (you will be provided a return label) within 30 days or you will be charged the retail price of the phone. This company will place a hold on your credit card for the retail price before it ships the replacement phone and if it can't do this, you will be required send them your broken/defective phone (at your own expense) before the replacement will be shipped. I have now been without my phone for 9 days, and, though I have the confirmation from UPS that the broken phone WAS delivered AND signed for, the company is still claiming they have not received the phone. If you're buying from an authorized retailer, ask them what Insurance they're using. If they tell you GWG, WALK OUT and go to another store!
