Goldrush Getaways sneaky, ruined credit, refused to cancel Ontario, California

Gold Rush Getaways preys on the retired and just about retired of society. They target the middle class with promises of free vacations and an income stream through retirement. We foolishly signed up at the presentation but called the very next day to cancel. We were told at the presentation that canceling within 24 hours was fine and easy. They told us on the phone no problem and that it was our loss. Unfortunately for us they LIED. We now have a black mark on our credit and have been sent to collections for the entire amount. Now they say verbal statements are not binding and we did not cancel in writing. They say that they would have needed to receive the cancellation in writing within the time limit. This is an unreasonable expectation for many of those at the presentation as most did not live in Ontario and it was quite a drive. We did notice that we were the youngest at the presentation. While we can rebuild our credit rating many of those we saw signing up would not easily be able to rebuild.
