On July 1st I was driving home and a large box truck was trying to back into a drive way of a business. I noticed that he was getting a little close, so I started to back up and so did the car behind me. He kept backing up, so I started to honk my horn. It was too late, and he backed into the front of my truck. I jumped out and so did the driver (Mike) and he apologized and said he did not hear me honking, due to the loud truck he was driving. My roommate pulled up after it all happened and heard the driver says he was sorry and he never saw me. I called the police station, but was put on hold for quite awhile, so I hung up. There was not that much damage, so we exchanged insurance information and he left. I called the insurance agency right away to make sure the truck was covered and they assured me it was. I gave them my information and my statement and he said they would get back to me. Then the owner (Andy) of the company called me right away, trying to fix the truck without using the insurance company. He said he had a (friend) that could fix it right up, but his (friend's) shop was way too far. The insurance company came out to look at the damages on my truck, but I was at work at that time. He never left an estimate or called me about the estimate. When he finally called me back, he stated that the truck was already totaled
before the other truck hit me. I explained to him that the truck was fixed a long time ago, but we did not paint it. The insurance company then said they would have to get with other driver to see the damages on the other truck, but
they could never get a hold of him. I never received a phone call after that, so I started to call every other day and leaving messages. I still never received a call back, so I called the supervisor and left a message. When I finally called and spoke to someone, they stated that the company that hit us and the driver is denying that they ever hit me. Now, I was very angry. The insurance company then wanted me to find witnesses and get written statements from them. They were basically telling me I was a liar and the truck was never in an accident. It's not like it had a whole bunch of damage, its the point when someone hit's you, then they should fix it. I know my truck is not the best looking truck, but at least it runs and it gets me from point A to Point B. If I had the money to fix it, then I would. I am not asking for much, just for my truck to be drivable again. My truck is still sitting in the drive way from that day. This company knows what happen and they will not take responsibility for it.
After getting aggravated with the insurance company, I was so mad; I told them I would just hire an Attorney, which will
cost more than the damages. |
