I have been employed by this company for 1 year, 11 months. During my employment with this company they had assigned me 2 clients with which they did an awesome job in matching us up as we were/are very compatible. The families of these 2 clients as well as the client(s) treated me extremly well and it was a joy going to work everyday. In March, I called in sick one day and they assigned the client to someone else. The client was told they "didn't know if I was coming back." When they informed me that I was no longer assigned to this client I asked them why and they said that "she doesn't do well with change." May would have been one year that I had been with this woman and they are claiming she doesn't do well with change yet they lie to her and her family (and me) and change anyway. I had complained to the owner of the company and her response was "nobody is forcing you to work here." My other client who I've been with since Feb 2010 had taken quite ill this past August with pnuemonia. I just happened to stop by his house on my off day to check on him as I knew he had not been feeling well only to find he was extremely week and unable to get out of bed. I helped him out of bed, helped get him changed, prepared some food for him and then took him to his personal physican. Once at the doctors office I was instructed by his doctor to take him to the hospital right away. After he was admitted into the ER I returned to his home and got his list of medications and other medical information and returned to the hospital to give them the information. Also, given the extreme condition of my client he wasn't able to answer many of their questions regarding previous medical conditions, etc. Luckily, I knew the answers to their questions. When I returned, the nurse assigned to him informed me that approximately 1-2 minutes after I had left they had to put him on life support and that he had almost flat lined. Ater he was well enough to leave the hospital he went to a rehab facility where he spent approximately 2 months. When he returned home he was assigned another caregiver and he told the owner of the company on more than one ocassion that he wanted me as his caregiver. She told him she would "consider it." Well, first of all, she has yet to consider it and she won't because she is angry that I told her back in March that lying to the client and suddenly taking me out of the picture was unprofessional and just plain wrong. She is well aware of the feelings of my client and has him convinced that because he signed a contract that he doesn't get to make the decision of who his caregiver is. Long story short, to get back at me she has no problem of huring the client. This client is ambulatory and has his full mental capacity. Since he has returned home I have noticed just in talking to him over the phone that he is unhappy and he sounds weak and tired. Just last night he asked me to call the owner and talk to her because he thinks he can't do anything about me not being there. I know if I call it will be the same b.s. as it was back in March with my other client. So, what it boils down to is a personal vendetta with me and this company thinks it is ok to hurt the client by not following the wishes of the client and creating unnecessary stress for the cleint. The client has even told the owner that the current caregiver is not as efficent as I am and he now has to pretty much work at doing the training of this person. Anybody that cares about their loved one must avoid this company. It's all about money to them and they don't care about anything else, client or employee. Elder abuse is what it is. They charge 20 an hour and pay the caregiver 9.40 (after a raise). I don't even care about the money, I care about what their actions are doing to my client. Please, please do not use this company if you care about your loved one being comfortable and happy with the people around them. They have no idea what the clients needs are because they aren't around the person every day or even every other day.
