I am in the Military and I had to do some research for the CPT on HIPPA concerns regarding Soldiers profiles. I ended up on a TRICARE site. I clicked the top box at the right hand corner which said HIPAA information line 1-888-363-4472. It was 2:30 the time I called. A message automatically came on and said push 1 for customer service. A man came on with an accent and said his name was Max. and I asked for the number or assistance for HIPPA. (Not thinking at the time HIPPA was spelled differently). He said "let me look that up for you and by the way it shows you are our 100th customer to call so you will be receiving a $500 grocery voucher" He asked me if I would like that and he said that to send the voucher it would cost $12.91 for shipping. RED FLAG! He asked me for my name. I gave it to him
He asked me for my address. I gave it to him.
He asked me for my credit card number. I told him I want to decline on the spot and have the number for assistance to HIPPA. He gave me the number of 1-800-555-1212 (directory assistance) I had my peer call him back at 4:15 and he was also the 100th customer. He was the same man but had the name of John. We tried to call back 10 minutes later and the man did not answer and sent us straight to Directory Assistance.
