My best friend was conned by John Mayo Smith who is supposed to be a big shot at R/GA an advertising firm in New York It all started last year when John approached my friend at a technology conference. They knew each other from a video game company they used to work at. My friend was looking for a job at the time and he offered her the world. He allegedly told her that he was going to hire her immediately to work on a big project at his company R/GA. To begin with R/GA is NOT his company. He works there but he doesn’t own it. I’m not proud of my friend but she engaged in a relationship with this crook. As time went by of course she never got the job. His excuses were off the chain. He was sucky at actually following through on it. When she approached him with an ultimatum he threatened her badly. He said he would use every last of his glamorous contacts in the industry to destroy her reputation and prevent her from ever getting a job in New York. She panicked and that’s the primary reason why she hasn’t pursued this legally. Also he ripped $7500 off her for a made up investment that never happened and only paid her back $2000.
