John Moore John Moore Services Run Around and Incompetent Houston, Texas

At 4PM my AC stopped working. I live in Houston I am a asthmatic with 30% lung capacity and we have been having 100 degree weather for 3 weeks. So for me AC is not just a convenience but a necessity. I went to the Yellow Pages and there was John Moore. Two page display. They do everything from plumbing to termite extermination. What attracted me to the company is on the page it had the biggest BBB symbol I have ever seen and it claimed to have some special award from them for over 5 years. And a friend of mine who is a contractor had used them. He gives them a call around 4:20 and they said they will have someone here in 45 minutes. One hour later no one. He called and they told him Darius was coming. Two hours later we was told that he was given another service ticket and someone else will be coming within the hour. Around a hour and half later he called and they tell him they will be getting hold of the tech. Well evidently he must be the Wicked Witch of the West because he says he cannot come because it is raining. Well it wasn't raining where I live at. Houston is notorious for having storms and the next street might not even get it. I have gone down my block and walked out a storm. The person comes on the phone and states there is a law that techs cannot work in the rain. I am not sure about the law but it wasn't raining here. It is apparent now that we have always been talking to a service and the dispatchers have no idea what they are doing and that we have to initiate all the phone calls to find out what was going on. More importantly it is also around 10 PM which means if I want to change services I have to look for a 24 hour service and pay 24 hour money. Why should I have to do that? We called these folks at 4 and they promised a person in 45 minutes. In any case we had to fight with the service and tell them it is not raining where I live. Well they agreed to have the tech come out as long as he did not have to go outside. Sure fine he was going to come and see it was dry I said to myself. Well he arrives at my house around 11pm. Meanwhile I am telling these folks my asthma is starting up and they are making it worse. just get someone here. He goes around the side of my house with my friend and tells him it was the contactor. He doesn't have the part on his truck and he will back in the morning. Well now I am livid because I might be spending the night in hospital. By 8am. Fine I am stuck now. I get a call early and it is going to be 321 bucks. By that time my friend had started to call other services. Just out of principle I was not going to use them. Every single person he called cringed when he told them my story and I needed someone pretty quickly. They all knew about John Moore and was not surprised. Finally someone called me back, a company called Changing Seasons and said he will be here in a hour. And he was. Well turned out it wasn't the contactor . He saw that right away, it was just a fuse. he replaced the fuse and went on his way. It cost a quarter of the cost of John Moore and what he would of gotten from me and he would of charged me for something that did not need to be fixed. I cannot imagine the nightmare I would of encountered if I used these folks. Also come to find out that even though the man who owns this company is the Chairman of the Board of the Houston South Texas BBB, this company is no longer accredited by the BBB of South Texas and Houston. If you need to complain about them you have to use their other address in Bryan which is another BBB. So I have to think some shenanigans was going on with Mr Valentine the owner.
