John's Cycle Shop
John's Cycle Shop John Brewer, QUALITY CYCLE MECHANIC Motorcycle Mechanic scam Streamwood, Illinois
12th of May, 2011 by User991839
"John's Cycle Shop" aka "Quality Cycle Mechanic" posts ads on Chicago's craigslist for motorcycle repair. He requires cash up front to cover parts since he is a "small time" mechanic. He held the bike hostage for over a month demanding more money for more required parts. Almost none of the parts he alleged to replace were actually replaced. None of them were replaced with new parts. Many things that should have been replaced were not. Most labor he claimed was not performed. Few parts were actually replaced. The charges were outrageous. The bike was returned in non-running condition for twice the original estimate. This guy is a scam! BEWARE!

Oh, let me tell you, this guy is one unbelievable hack. Not only will he not fix what he say he will, he won't even replace the parts in which you pay for. Total scammer. BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE. I brough a recently purchased 1970's Honda CB450 to John for carb cleaning and tune up. He picked up the bike from my Chicago condo in a beat up pick-up truck ($75) and told me he would have it running like new. He brings it pack three days later and it won't start, after several times and much throttling he gets it to start, even rides it through the alley a couple times for good measure. Turns it off and it won't start again. He tells me "oh it may be out of gas." Now at this point I'm trusting his word as a mechanic (big mistake) anyway, he leaves, I buy some gas for and check the tank and it's full of gas. I try and start it and it won't start, I call him immediately to fix it, again. That was three weeks ago. I take it to a legitimate mechanic and am told that my carbs haven't been cleaned and my plugs are fouled and haven't been changed in months if not a year. This guy is a horrible mechanic, total scammer. And all for a few bucks. I only wanted my bike fixed I didn't care about the money, but this guy John only scammed me out of a few hundred dollars. In the end I have to pay a REAL motorcycle mechanic to fix a minor issue that he couldn't or wouldn't. Don't believe a word he says, read these posts. John will not fix your motorcycle problems, he'll make them worse. And he'll tell you it's probably something you did. This guy is horrible. That's JOHN BREWER http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/cys/2373682449.html, (331) 442-3486, in STREAMWOOD, IL.
