I bought a twelve week old Chihuahua from this breeder Joyce Tate in Feb. 2011. in Augusta Arkansas. When I arrived to pick up my puppy she brought them out from her car and told me they both had a tiny runny nose from the cold but that they were both really healthy and from a long line of great chihuahaus. I drove back to Faytteville with my puppy and took her straight to the vets office. They were immediately concerned about that she might have hydrocephalus and gave me antibiotics for the runny nose. I tried to contact Joyce via email and phone and she had conveniently disappeared. She had assured me if I had any questions or problems to call her. I repeatedly tried to reach her.
Over the next six months the vets discovered she had a congenital breathing issue because her nasal passages were so tiny they didn't allow mucus to drain down her throat correctly. This gave her a condition where she would stop breathing, stand up and gasp for air and them momentarily pass out. I can't tell you how heart breaking this was to watch this darling puppy suffer. On our vets recommendation she went to five different specialists finally ending with famous vet Larry Nafe in Little Rock. We finally lost our precious Wednesday when she was just six months old. I had literally two thousand dollars in vet bills and a broken heart. It devastated my whole family. Dr Nafe told us that any reputable breeder would have known she was ill because of her large domed head and the position of her eyes in the east/ west type direction. Poor Wednesday was only 16 ounces when we lost her at six months. This was a tragedy caused by line breeding and greed. Putting families through that is just evil. Avoid this chihuahua breeder at all cost. In retrospect knowing what I know now about hydrocephalus all the puppies she showed me had symptoms. This should not be allowed to go on ........
