| As a student of Kaplan University I enjoyed success in my grades and in my hard work ethic as a student. It was surprising therefore to learn that my professors advised breaking confidentiality agreements to externship sites. My professor stated numerous times that the ethical implications for the budget were decided by the Superintendent and what was best for the budget was best for the budget. Here is where the names of students take precedence over the private lives of students. "The program outcomes section includes the following: Each of the 4 program outcomes are addressed separately with a description of student knowledge in regard to the outcome, 2 pieces of student work that show knowledge of the outcome, and a reflection as to why those 2 pieces were chosen." I refused to give the administration names and they have retaliated by creating a longer course schedule and by saying that retroactive hours do not count due to my insubordination to discuss student names. They had asked for names of students who had received special educational services and would continue to do so in the future. When my professor discussed it she stated it was perfectly legal and ethical to remove students. As recent court rulings in Atlanta apply to education manipulation or modification of scores even by DHHS employees is illegal. I had conducted further research and had learned of those factors which as well apply to my professor for there parts as DHHS employees and advocating removal of children from services. I refused to use their sites and had found I could intern with the DHHS. Kaplan had placed me into drop status without clarification, no scheduling, and declined the State as it was not "affiliated" with Kaplan. This indicates several conflicts of interests with current Kaplan administration and there business handling of students as referenced in class by comparing us to pay checks. Not all professors engaged in this behavior but it is disparaging when the primary professor discusses that. As well as calling students who are living with disabilities as lessons in self helplessness when they do not understand the topics. I have continued to talk to Kaplan and threatened FBI involvement but have not seen any action taken or have been contacted. As such it is very frustrating to think of those effected in the past by my professors actions in manipulating the scoring standards and removing children from help. I had also wanted the enlisted aide of Robert Ziehm a distant cousin to discuss how volatile the situation could be to retiring veterans who had decided to retire on military pension and work in the field of early education or in other fields. This does not just apply to the early childhood education the programs as well apply to medical degrees. |
