We booked holiday accommodation with holidays4u.org in Fuerteventura. When I alhad paid the entire amount-around 1,000 weekly rental-for beach front holiday accommodation (called Villa Consuela on the website) in Corralejo, Fuerteventura.I received the confirmation of booking from Karen Durant of holidays4u.org.At the very end of the booking confirmatione-mail was introduced a new condition : that "noise" had to be "kept to a minimum" as the accommodation was situated in a residential area and locals had to get up for work. As we had four noisy young children travelling with us, I contacted Karen Durant and pointed out that this condition was not in the original ad for the property, that it rendered the property unsuitable forour particular partyand that if it had been brought to my attention at the outset, I would not have booked that particular property. This occurredthe day after I had booked the accommodation. Karen Durant insisted that it had been in the original ad for the property, that if I wished to cancel200 or so (I can't remember exactly, it was quite a significant amount in any event) would be deducted as theywould have lost revenue on account of nothaving had the opportunity to rent it for the one daywhen I had agreed to rent it.Regarding her assertion that the new condition had been in the property details from the outset, I had printed off the original ad and it is proof that this condition was not thereinitially as she alleged, butwhen I again checked the description of the property on her website, the decription of the property now contains the additional condition re noise restriction for the property. I was astonished at such underhandedness. As the holiday was only for one week and I didn't want the hassle of further argument with someone who was obviously capable of extremely devious behaviour. (five or six emails exchanged pointing out that we knew she was lying to us, but KD refused to back down from insisting on cancellation only with the exortionate refund) we decided to proceed with the booking-most reluctantly I might add. The holiday accommodation was ok-just, dark dreary accommodation with the nice location being the main plus. The kitchen was dirty (greasyfrying pan, dirty saucepans, that sort of thing) and we certainly would not have wished to cook or eat there. It wasn't helped by the fact that we were told of several burglaries in the area and in particular in two houses on the row that we were staying, justa few nights previous and in ouraccommodation also a few weeks prior to that. Thefrench door was broken by the burglars and whilst the fact of the broken door was pointed out to us by the care taker when we arrived, he didn't tell us why it had been. As a result we couldn't lock the door and thisdidn't aid restful sleep at night needlessto say!! On the last evening, we were informed by the caretaker that we would have to vacate the property at 8am the next morning to facilitate cleaning for the next lot of guests. We declined to do so, telling him that that was unreasonable and certainly not what had been ageed regardingthe vacate timebut he insisted. Luckily we managed to find the leaflet for the property which stated that the vacate time was 10.30am. He was on the phone at that stage telling whoever he was talking to that we were "refusing to move". Having looked at the leaflet that we showed him. he very reluctantly agreed to allow us to stay on until 10am. Rather nasty scene really and certainly left us feeling very unwelcome on that last night!! Suffice it to say that we would NEVER EVER book a holiday with Karen Durant/holidays4u.orgagain.
