At first look, Kemah Farms appears to be a very professional, clean and friendly training and boarding facility. The owner Kristy Doty has Dressage riding and training credentials and claims to be " all about the horse".
I left my mare with her to train the basics and after 7 days my mare developed muzzle sores on each side of her face as well as under her chin, face and throat latch. When I questioned Kristy about the open areas, her excuse was a rash of "summer sores" in her barn and that she had not noticed them after riding the mare and would go look at them. Later, Kristy admitted it was the bit she was training in. Even after I told her not to ride the mare until the sores healed she did it anyway twice. I removed my horse from her training and asked for a pro-rated refund and was told that horses get sores, cuts and bruises during training and it was no big deal. She couldn't see any reason why I would want to remove my horse and that she does not offer refunds. She said if I left, that was my decision and it state that in the contract she never gave me until the day I left.
She was too lazy after a lesson to go get the contract and have me look it over and sign it, so I was never informed of any of her rules.
I would NOT recommend Kristy Doty, she does not take responsibility for her actions, cares more about money than the horses and her customers and is a poor example of a so-called Dressage Trainer.
I reported Kemah Farms to the BBB in Phx and her response was accusations that I delivered a sun burned horse and that I refused to sign a contract. Hmmmm odd that I must do her job and get her off the bench and lead her to her house to get the contract. If her accusations were true as her contract stated, the horse couldn't have been at her facility and trained by her until it was signed and Negative Coggins test was given to her.
BE CAREFUL, she is sweet and convincing at first then will turn on you if you have any issues while doing business with her.
