Les Schwab Damaged my Rim. Eugene, Oregon
19th of Apr, 2011 by User385735
I went into Les Schwab on River Road (Santa Clara) to get some used tires put on my car. I gave the sales rep the keys to my car and they pulled my car into the bay. I asked the sales rep that I wanted the best of the four tires I had on the back and the newer used tires on the front. We picked out the best of my four tires to mount on the back. I had two tires that were almost bald. they were on the back as I had rotated them before to keep better tires int eh front for safety. The sales rep told the guy who was going to do the work to put the best 2 of my 4 tires on the back and mount the newer used one on the front I stood right there while he told the man what to do. The man started and took all four of wheels off my car. But he dismounted the best two of the 4 tires I had off my rims and then mounted the good used ones on those rims. He then put the bald tires I had on the back, back on my car. I had caught this and got ahold of the sales rep and he told the guy what to do for the second time. The guy then did what he was told. But! The man who was doing the work put one of my wheels on the right front of my car. As I have lug Bolts and not nuts, the guy put the wheel on the started the lug bolts and instead of checking my aluminum wheel to see if it was mounted he the took the Air impact wrench and tightened the bolts to my wheel. The sales rep came out to check on the man and he rolled my wheels and my right front wheel was not mounted properly and wobbled. But the lug bolts were impacted tightly. My rim was damaged from the wheel not being mounted properly. When the man used the impact and the center hole on my rim was gouged heavily (large lip). I got really upset as these rim's are not available any more and are on a Vintage Sports car. I voiced my compliant to the office and they looked astonished. I saw the where the rim was damaged and the sales rep came in a told me it was my cars fault. He said that the center part of my hub was rusty and that is why my rim would not mount properly. I told him that I have mounted those rim's before and had not one problem. Also that if it was rusty why didn't they take a wire brush and clean it off like they have done may times before? Again he denied any wrong doing and then proceeded out to the tire bay to look at the rim. I told him that I wanted to look at my rim and check it. The rim had been damaged int he center hole but was not cracked. He then took a grinder and cleaned up the center hole where the had been made a large lip from the improper mounting and grinded it off. I asked him to please month the wheel and I checked the other wheels to see if they were mounted properly. I asked him to torque them and told him I wanted to leave. I never went back and will never go back to any Les Schwab. Ever!!
