I ordered logo design services from a company called Logodog (www.logodog.com) run by an individual named Stephen L. Carlson. I read the sales description, which at the time included the feature of "unlimited revisions," and terms of agreement on his site and decided to place an order to have a logo designed by him. Several hours later, I received three samples for my review. However, the samples were not at all what I asked for as they did not take into account any of the design instructions (besides color) that I specifically requested when I filled out the form on his site for customers to give instruction on how they want the logo designed. Carlson seemed to have thrown together random designs on the fly, completely ignoring my written description of what I wanted included in my logo! When I asked him to revise based on what I had requested, Mr. Carlson informed me that what I was requesting did not qualify as a revision, but rather a "redraw" and I would therefore have to order the package again if I wanted additional samples or request a refund minus a $150 administration fee. He stated that his policy on what a "revision" is consists of a minor graphical, text, or color alteration, nothing more nothing less. However, this was not clearly stated on his ORDER PAGE, nor in his (legal) terms of agreement, but rather briefly on a FAQ page. At any rate, I politely told him that I was not asking for "redraws" but rather simply for what I initially requested--which is that he send samples based on the information I gave on his input form, and not just send me any random drawing that he cobbled together hastily based on his own whims. At this point, he immediately stopped all communication and refunded $145 of the $295 fee for the service, based on his "refund policy." At no time did I request a refund from him or communicate in any way impolitely to him. I simply asked him to provide me with what I ordered and asked specifically if he would be willing to do just that or not. In my opinion, Mr. Carlson is running an Internet scam, where he is guaranteed to make $150 on anyone who foolishly decides to order services from his website, without providing the client with what they've requested and without further correspondence with the client. It seem he has devised a way to do this by using clever language in posting
his "guarantee" or "refund policy" on his site which says "if you are not satisfied with logo samples you receive simply let us know and we will refund your package price less a $150 service and drafting fee." Again, at no time in any of our correspondence (which was only done by e-mail) did I request a refund or use any words such as "I am not satisfied with the logo samples" and yet a partial refund was sent and no final product was sent. I am not able to even use the samples sent due to the file format in which he sent them and he would not return any correspondence or communication attempts after sending the partial refund. I basically paid $150 for absolutely nothing. This is a warning to anyone considering dealing with LogoDog or any other business run by this man. He is dishonest, a loose cannon and basically just wants to make an easy $150 off of unsuspecting small business owners like myself. He stole $150 from me and did not provide me with the service or end product I ordered. |
